Useless company and useless settings again... Whenever I try to open this game, it gets stuck in a loop of "checking downloadable content". The product is malfunctioning at the moment, and not something I am prepared to accept if there is no solution for it.

That happened to me, too.
A friend told that for her it was the latest patch--on xbox 360--that seemed to wonk it out. So, I went thru to find the latest patch. Went thru the memory storage...somehow managed to finally find it...lol..the update patch they nag you abt.
Deleted it and it worked like a charm again. They do keep trying to get me to download it again, but I say, "No!"
