P.S. i take back everything I wrote above if the returning character is Sigrun.
YES!
I miss her.
But then again, she has little relevance in a plot that has little to do with Darkspawn.

So we know that Verric and Cassandra will be returning as companions.

It's a new game so I'd like most of the companions to be new. I pumped that Varric is making a return though. Cassandra was never a companion we don't know very much about her (Unless you watched the movie). I'm not going to be thrilled about Cullen becoming a companion, but he's the JB of the DA Universe (Bad at his job, annoying to listen to, hand his fans are border line pysco)
I do want to see past companions make some kind of appearance in some way at least. It's nice to see how past companions have changed and what they're currently up to.

A "returning" character is a character that is from another game. Party member or not. I want new characters.

This is exactly why I feel conflicted about Varric. While I loved him to bitsies in DA2 he's still Hawke's bro and I feel like I have a big chunk of experience with his character I can't just throw away and get to know him all over again.esper wrote...
No more major character turning into companion. We have two already this is too much.
I don't mind some major character who have some non companion role, but as for my companions I prefer people I can get to knew at the same speed as my PC, and I want characters I have no significant opinion on to be my new companions.

I know no such thing; have you a link of a Bioware personnel confirming this?

Cassandra is.. Okay. She didn't have a character in DA2 and in her movie she was so underdeveloped that she could have been passed off as anyone else. Her "return" is okay.
Hey, sis, the bratty female rogue is Sera, an elf. But both she and the Tevinter magister, Dorian, are from a survey that has been debunked as being out of date, so their current status is unknown. It wouldn't surprise me if either both are in, but it isn't certain. I'm not crazy about the idea, since "bratty" is a major turn-off for me, but that's the way it goes.Magdalena11 wrote...
Since Varric, Cassandra and Vivienne are locked in and DA seems to have a male and a female from each class, it looks like a sword and board male warrior (Cass is wielding 2-handed in the released stills), a dual wielding female rogue (oh, please, not Isabela again - I love her to bits but her story's told) and a male mage are going to be joining us.
To speculate a bit, Cullen would fit the bill for the warrior if they don't go for a Qunari. Has anyone seen Qunari fight weapon and shield? There was some discussion about a bratty female dwarf rogue whose name begins with an S. It wasn't Sigrun but she would also fill that role. Maybe her exploration into the deep roads took her really far west.... I also remember the same article mentioning a male mage from Tevinter. I think he's probably going to be an elf because they do tend to include a token elf and a token dwarf in the party. I don't know anything about Vivienne so I won't stick my neck out on either of the mages' specialties but I think one of them will be a healer.
A warrior, a rogue and a mage. Standard set. Three more of the same classes, but opposite genders? Or will there be new classes - hybrids, like in Mass Effect?azarhal wrote...
It was announced in Game Informer. We know 3 companions for Inquisition: Cassandra, Varric and Vivienne.
