with every gasp for air images flashed; the sky darkening as the Reapers came down
like fallen angels, buildings crumbling, as they chop everything down. The
screams of Earth rang in his ears. He thought to himself, as he struggled to
gain the strength to stand,
“The end of Earth has been
spoken of sense before the 2000’s, and to think now it is coming, the mercy yell that women do as they hold their
children before being utterly crushed by a single, thing. I refuse to call Reapers anything but monsters.” They call
him “Shadow”, a human Lieutenant Colonel for Earth’s Army Special Forces. His
ability came to him once again and he felt a piece of rubble on him, his eyes
sparked blue as so did his hands. The rubble, lifted, revealing nothing but
desolation. This bolted fear through him as he remembered all the various races
stood around him. (The various races present are based upon YOUR end-game
allies). He checked his right eye to make sure it wasn’t broken. He lost it
back on a stealth mission and so they replaced it and modified it to help him
in further stealth and overall. Light shined on him, and he wiped the dust off
his black and red armor revealing the N7 symbol on his chest. He scrounged
around, looking for someone but only found dead bodies. He was a lone soldier
in the fight, with no comrades so there was no real connection. Though he did
fight with these men and women and so he gave them a moment of silence as he
knelt. After a brief moment his hearing became better, and he heard a loud
crash. He turned and bolted towards the edge of the rubble to see a Reaper
stumble. A static came from the radio, “Hit’em with everything you got!” He
knew this was Shepard. Immediately, the Reaper became surrounded in explosions
of fire, sending it to the ground. He stared in awe of the sight. Shadow
couldn’t believe a Reaper was actually destroyed, the death of a viscous
monster. It was amazing to him. He looked to the Citadel Beam, Shepards’ destination,
I then heard rumbles from behind, and turned pulling out the pistol of its
holster and aimed, waiting. Husks came sprinting over the desolated building
blocks and spotted him. Which caused them to sprint towards him like they
usually did. Shadow fended them off with what ammo he had left, though when he
ran out, he used his usual. He pulled his hood over his head and slung his arms
down activating his two Omni-blades. He jolted towards the Husks, slicing
through them and stabbing others left and right. He spun and decapitated two
and zapped to the top of beam that had been the nearest high spot and jumped
off landing, stabbing, two Husks. He lifted his head and checked to see what
was left, but there was nothing. He dismissed his blades and went back to the
edge of the buildings pieces. He looked into the sky and caught Admiral Hacket
saying,
“This is it.” Shadow knew
what was happening, the Crucible was being brought down. He noticed vehicles
come out from under the fallen monster. Standing where he was, he saw off in
the distance a monster like no other going to the same destination, the Citadel
Beam. Powerless he watched the event fold out, the Reaper land, beaming the men
down below as they bolted, struggled, and died, trying to reach the beam.

Though that was it, no one
had reached the beam. As Shadow himself darted towards the beam, he heard a man
on the radio,
“God…they’re all gone.” As
Shadow got closer, the Reaper walked away towards the main area of which more
people had the line of defense. A woman
then spoke
“Did we get anyone to the
beam?” Which by then the man replied,
“Negative. Our entire force
was decimated.” Shadow cut off his radio to take a moment, then started for the
beam. After a long sprint down, Shadow had reached the beam and saw the
destruction. More dead bodies than before lied about on the dark, burnt dirt
than the crumbled building. I turned on my radio to see if anyone was asking
about this. Admiral Hacket came on the com for that exact thing saying,
“Shepard?..Anyone?! Did
anyone make it into the beam?!” Shadow hesitantly responded,
“No sir, they all died.
Shepard was here?”
“Yes, who is this?” He
asked with fear in his tone.
“They call me ‘Shadow’
sir. I’m…”
“Son, now isn’t the time!
Find Shepard!” Shadow roamed around for only a short time before noticing dirt
on a soldier’s chest that barely showed white plating. Shadow knelt and wiped
off the dirt and saw the chain to the dog tags that went over the N7 on the
chest piece. Shadow checked the pulse, though there was nothing there. Shadows’
heart fell, the great Commander Shepard was dead.
“Sir, Shepard is dead.”
Shadow choked. There was a moment of silence before Hacket sighed with a slight
groan of horror,
“I guess it is just up to
me then.” Shadow realized he attracted attention when he heard Husks and
Harbringers coming, so he ran. He didn’t know what else to do. He knew that he
wouldn’t survive what was in the Citadel and would need help. Although when he
almost reached the building he once was, he heard 3 gunshots coming from where
the beam was. A moment after, a few more. Shadow used his eye to zoom in as
much as possible and noticed a figure, slowly limping towards the beam. He
realized just before he was thrown to the sky the N7 on his chest.
“It can’t be!” Shadow said
to himself. He tried to contact Hacket but all he got was static. He decided to
sit and wait. If that was Shepard then there was nothing else to do. He was no
match to the Reapers, it would be suicide. As he sat and waited, the sky got
brighter with the space assault going on. Though, after a long wait, a huge
flash lit up the sky, which was followed by the beam shutting down.

The sky once again lit up
in flames as the Citadel was destroyed, which was immediately followed by a red
orb that expanded quickly. As it hit Earth Shadow became petrified, he had no
idea what was to happen. When the orb hit him, his eye shut off. He no longer
was able to use it. Though after a brief moment, He heard crashes followed by
shouting. Not shouts of fear or pain, shouts of victory. Just as he went to ask
what was going on, a Reaper appeared above and was falling. It wasn’t like in
the flashbacks where they landed; it was like a crashing ship. Just as the
Reaper hit the ground, it hit me what had just happened. We won. The Reapers
were gone.

Shadow rushed over to the
wreckage, throwing pieces around with his abilities. After scrounging, he moved
a piece to find Shepard. He/She lied there and coughed as Shadow shook him/her
happily shouting,
“Shepard! You did it!! The
monsters are dead!” Although Shadow was excited, Shepard coughed up,
“Hacket…” Shadow
remembered Hacket being up at the Citadel, although strangely enough rocks
began to move on the other side of the wreckage. Shadow used his right arm to
use his ability, lifting up the wreckage in the general area to reveal Hacket.
“He’s there!” Shadow said
to Shepard with excitement. Shadow helped the two up and carried called for
evac. Waiting for the Makos to arrive, Hacket looks over at Shepard to say
“What the hell did you do
up there Shepard?” They both chuckled a little. (SKIP IF YOUR SHEPARD IS
RENEGADE) Shepard lifted his head and looks over at Shadow as the Makos arrive
and says,
“Thank you.”

blankly stares at Shepard as he gathers his thoughts together before calling
for a Mako extraction. He helps Shepard up and they move along towards the
first downed Reaper when the Makos appear coming over a hill of debris. (SKIP

sadness washing over. “He’s dead.”

Shadow heard growls from a
distance behind him; looking back, he waited to see what it was. As the growls
grew louder and louder Husks came bolting over the hill and straight for him,
as though they knew he had been here this entire time. He spun around, stood,
and pulled out his pistol and one of his blades. Every part of Shadows being
told me this would be my final stand, so he prepared himself. He cut, slashed,
gauged, shot, and tore apart whatever tried to steal his life. Though just as
he was getting overwhelmed, a crack followed by a flash and boom came from the
sky. As the Citadel erupted in orange flames, a shimmer of blue shined and
expanded at an explosive rate. It smashed against the husks and they fell over,
after a moment they stood and walked away. A Reaper in the distance had stopped
shooting and began flying up into the oily night sky. He stood and watched as
the rubble fell into Earth’s atmosphere, igniting the sky in manmade comets. As
pieces fell and smashed the ground, he knew the threat was over, and knew it
was Shepard. He let out a sigh as

Shadow sat in the dirt, thinking
of what was to happen now. A moment went by until a green orb flashed from the center
of the explosion. Shadow gasped, actually scared of what was to come. Thoughts
spun in Shadows mind, not knowing them to be his final thought. For as the
green wave had hit, he lost all control. He and the rest of the world thought
as one, not as individuals; ending all conflict, in an instant

Shadow froze; the Reaper stood
and scanned the area, and flew off the closest Alliance base. Doing what came
to mind first, Shadow darted for the beam. When he got there he frantically
looked around and the bodies. Not knowing the fate of anyone, all he cared
about was finding Shepard. After a moment he saw his body lay a few feet away
from a Mako. Shadow went to his body and checked for a pulse. It was there,
Shadow opened Shepards eyes to see something devastating. The orbs, on his eye,
glowing. Shadow had seen this before, and knew what was to come. He pulled out
his pistol and aimed at Shepards head, knowing it was the best way to handle
it. Before a shot was made, Shepard opened his eyes, to reveal that his eyes
were fine. Shadows eyes widened in surprise as he put his gun down bacl by his
side.
“You…did it.” He faintly
said.
“Did what?” Shepard
replied as he/she stood, grunting, holding his/her side.
“You were not
indoctrinated, you passed the test.”
“What do you mean?”
Shepard asked as he looked over to notice the beam was still emitting. “No…no…it
was all fake?!” He/she screamed before tripping in pain.
“What should we do Commander?”

Shadow ran out of ammo. Knowing that only his blades were left, he took only
one out as he hid behind a Mako. He used his biotic powers to throw the Mako,
though missing; Shepard now knew that Shadow just wasn’t a soldier. Shepard
shot at Shadow but missed as he appeared in different places as he got closer
and closer. Seeing his pattern, Shepard pulled out his blade and blocked
Shadows attack, knocking him back. Though Shadow had planned for this, he
appeared on the Mako he through and leapt at Shepard, now taking out two
blades, unknowing of what to happen.

He lunged down and cut the head off. Killing humanities last hope.
