I'm hoping isometric cam comes back or they find an adequate way to properly target with magic. it was VERY cumbersome in DA2. I'd have to think they have something in place soon for that. They had to recognize that was a major problem in DA2. Right? Right? :P

This is the #1 issue for me.  I didn't like DA2, but I could have tolerated it with an isometric-like camera view. It seems like such a no-brainer to me, way more effect on the game than multiple races or even the dialogue wheel.

Will be very disappointed if they sacrifice the iso-camera again.

I imagine people inclined to be pessimistic will find things to worry about, while those inclined to be optimistic will see it as promising. Me, I tend towards the latter, so my reaction is basically "well that looks fun, I can't wait to see more mage combat tactics".

Knowing whether or not there will be an isometric camera would be nice, though. Also, full party combat. Because I'm assuming the vast majority of combat will be party-based.

Wait, what? Are you saying action can't have tactics? Because that's actually what was shown and talked about. It might not be tactics you want in a game but it's still tactical nonetheless.

im with mara, would love to see more mage action aswell tbh, DA2 must be the only game ive ever played where i actually enjoyed playing a mage to the extent that outside of rogue i had the most play throughs as that class

here a idea then, ppl in here are saying the combat looks like The Witchers, i really dislike DAO combat but id take it x100 over The Witchers, if DAI comes out and the combat is just like the witchers i for one prob wouldnt buy it as i honestly cannot stand it, i really tried to like it but just couldnt an believe me i give games a fair go before i throw in the towel

In fairness, it looks much more like Mass Effect, with swords. :P

i wouldnt cry at that tbh i love ME lol

So do I. But really I just see this the same way Baldurs Gate for the playstation 2, was done. They stripped the tactical combat for a more fluid, action experience. Though, in fairness, I might have enjoyed that Baldurs Gate, had it had a stronger storyline or of been an actual remake of the original two.

We don't even know that. How can you say that when we only seen 1 on 1 combat only instead of team combat?

I mean in terms of gameplay styles, not necessarily in the strict sense of the words.

It depends how one defines tactics.  Dark Souls sytle tactics (which was the only brand of tactics shown in the video) or party-based tactics (which you would think would come first for a party-based game...Laidlaw spent his whole time in the video talking about it but then they didn't show anything).

Hopefully they will show something more, but let's not pretend like Dark Souls' style tactics is what people are asking for when they say they want the tactical gameplay of Dragon Age: Origins.

I'm surprised that the "middle ground" is supposed to be a mix between Dark Souls/Dragon's Dogma.

I have no real opinion of it, except that I'm confused.

They only shows us 1 on 1 combat which in DAO and da2 is not very tactical any way.

Absolutely true.  I guess I'm just saying I'd like to see some party based tactics some time

As others have said, I think it's pointless to worry about it at this point since we didn't even see party combat. My opinion is reserved until I see a full combat trailer with the party. I can see what they're wanting to accomplish and I agree with that. The question is will it be executed like they want? Time will tell.

I think the "tactics" we saw in the trailer will be the natural evolution of the party combo system that was expanded on in DA2.

Don't we? It was right there in the combat. There was no selection of the target, just a straight up attack like you'd see in any action game.

Agreed.  Will withhold further judgement until then. -_-

Or Like console DAO was like, or console DA2.  You do notice the guy is playing with a controler, not a keyboard and mouse, right?

If their only desire was to plant themselves halfway between the two games, it would be impossible to innovate. I know that's a buzzword now, but I'm just saying by definition, they can't do new things in that scenario. So that's not necessarily desirable.

What's "middle ground" actually means probably has to do with the overall speed of combat. Hopefully tactically it will be similar to both in some ways, along with new things.

Game vaguely reminds me of something I said the devs should emulate, 0/10 pre-order canceled.

The horse riding worries me. Unless the game is trying to be Skyrim/Assassin's creed/Witcher or some other large open world game there is no need for a mount. Even if they have a map the size of Gothic games running on foot would be enough and I would rather see the game continue along the lines of earlier ones with map travelling rather then forcing us to ride out to the place we want to go on a horse.

As for the combat the little we see doesn't match up with what I thought they would do. O_O

We havn't even seen how theyare handling mounts yet. But to speculate it sounds like they are making more like the Rover in ME1. You still have map travel but the area's you have to go to you is so big you need a mount like the new worlds in ME1.

What I noticed in this video:

No weapon sheathing; weapons float on your back like always.

Party size is PC plus 3 NPCs.

There's a glimpse of so far unnanounced companions; a bearded sword and board warrior, and either a non-dwarven archer or a non-dwarven dagger rogue (one of these must have been the PC in that scene).

The Venatori (whoever they are) are a enemy faction.

Also I think the Inquisitor is the character wearing a hood.

You know I stated this in my first post, right? I'm well aware it might be different on PC, but it would be nice to see how that plays out as well, as opposed to just the console versions.

I like the fact that they considered adding some logic to the fighting.

And we'll see that once bw is ready to show it.

Which I don't mind at all.

Sounds Tevinter, venator means "hunter" in latin.

I suppose it could be Antiva and Italian inspired, but seems more Tevintery somehow - compare stuff like Somniari and Soporati.  And the Antivans already have the Crows.
