The best in each game I would say:
Liara in ME1
Tali in ME2
Traynor in ME3
Although a romanced Tali's visit to the apartment in the Citadel DLC for ME3 is the most laugh out loud weird moment in the entire trilogy.
To be honest I thought the continured romances with characters in your party for ME3 didn't really work, as the it made very little sense that they blew so hot and cold and had so little to say.
My ears. They bled.
Seems to be a very love/hate moment, I actually liked that scene.
I'm not sure that I liked it, but it was very weird. I prefer weirdness to pathos in games any day.
I found it cute, which is probably the same reason as to why those who prefer her romance anyway.

As cynical as that comment was, it does hold a little bit of truth, Tali doesn't really have anyone but Shep(maybe buddy Garrus). Especially evident when she tragically beggs Shep to come back to her in the extraction scene.Br3ad wrote...

Already posted my choice of Tali before, but also wanted to add that she seems to show more concern for Shepard at certain moments, including the first meet up in Citadel as well as after completing Leviathan, than the other LIs do which I like.
I mean right after the LI kills the two soldiers in the car dealer. Tali asks if Shepards alright, while every other LI just says "Having a bad day, Shepard?"
As for Leviathan, if you speak to the LIs after the last mission for the DLC, they'll mention different thngs about Leviathan, while Tali just seems concerned that she almost lost Shepard.

You can do Ashley-Miranda-Ashley (importing savegames) and not have Miranda die in ME3. It has been explained numerous times, so I'll be brief. If Shepard isn't a jerk to her and says "I want you in my life" the first time you meet in the Citadel, if Shepard gives her the heads-up on Kai Leng with the info sent by Anderson and finally grant her access to Alliance 'resources' (while not locking her as a paramour when she talks to you about the control chip) she will survive and become a war asset.
I know all about that.
However, I never metagame. I don't pick options that I wouldn't pick simply because I know I can get a different outcome.
Shepard is truthful to Miranda in ME3...even though I know she will die because I said it.

I'll never ever understand how people can say "Ash's romance is the most realistic" or "it only makes sense if Shep goes with Miranda". No romance is "the most realistic", every Shep has a different personality. My Shep always romances Tali, because the two match perfectly. Still I don't go around proclaiming that Tali is the only realistic romance option and all others are badly done or don't make sense.
Everyone has a different taste, I find both Miranda and Ash to be ugly and I don't like their personalities. Some people hate Tali because she's too emotional and has "dog legs".
To each their own:?
Calm down.
I apologize for not clearly stating that it was only my opinion.
My opinion is based off if I was watching this as a movie or tv series. Ashley and Miranda are the two that I could see Shepard becoming romantically involved with. They both just work perfectly for the storyline...IN MY OPINION.
To each their own.

I'm not saying it to be "cynical", it's just being real. She's often trusted, for some reason, with positions that everyone knows she can't handle, due mostly to a lack of experience with leadership, and it always goes awry. If Tali is in a relationship with Shepard, she makes it really clear that she really doesn't care about anything else at all. My point.Necanor wrote...

I romanced: Miranda
Favorite: Miranda
My canon goes Ashley --> Miranda --> staying loyal to Miranda.
Honestly, I think that Miranda's romance is certainly the most real of the main cast, and has the most organic flow. She starts out skeptical of Shepard (even outright hostile), but she eventually opens up to him as they work together. Later on, she finds herself in need and asks Shepard to help rescue her sister. Seeing Shepard go out of his way to help her save Oriana (without asking for anything in return), Miranda learns that she can trust Shepard on a personal level. Eventually, Shepard cracks open her icy facade and figures out that Moranda is actually quite warm and loving to those to earn her friendship and respect.
Acknowledging that Shepard is one of the very few people who is on her level, Shepard intrigues Miranda. Despite being "normal", Shepard is still capable of doing things that even Miranda herself is incapable of doing. She is both envious of this and admires it in Shepard. Through Shepard, Miranda finds that her accomplishments ARE her own, in spite of her gifts. Shepard himself is a testament to this. Truly, Shepard (mine, at least, the way I RP him) considers his death to be the best thing that's happened to him, because it led to him meeting Miranda.
Miranda eventually finds herself falling for Shepard, and at first dismisses it as "blowing off steam" before a big suicide mission, but comes to realize that her feelings are genuine, and that Shepard is the first person she's felt this way for.
Of all the romances, I would say that Miranda's is the most rewarding. I love the development of her character along the romance path in 2 (it was kind of dumbed down and retread in 3 though), and her romance content in the Citadel DLC is fantastic.:

Better. I'd blow her away on the coup (it would eliminate a lot of problems), but she decides not to be stupid at the last second.
That said, I have her bring up problems later on. And this time, she is blown away.
