Backstory: I have a solo no-reload sorcerer that successfully survived both BGTutu and SoA on core difficulty without too much trouble (a very paranoid sorcerer, that is). While I'm familiar with these two games, ToB is terra incognita for me. I've never played it before, neither with a party, nor solo.
This week I completed Saradush for the first time and took my sorc to Watcher's Keep, thinking that if I can handle it solo with the help of DSimpson's walkthrough and no reloads, I'll be able to tackle the rest of ToB as well. Surprisingly, she survived. Killing Demogorgon proved to be the least of my problems, while dead magic rooms were a nasty surprise. Also Aurumach "Why Don't You Die" Rilmani.
So now I have a dilemma. You see, I have Ascension installed. Just the base mod, no improved bosses. As the title implies, I can continue playing Ascension with all its awesomeness (and risk being pwned) or uninstall it and play vanilla (and risk a bit less).
Any thoughts on what to choose? I want to see some new dialogues and battles that are not a total walk in the park but I'm scared. Halp?
Solo no-reload: Ascension vs. vanilla ToB

It's been done before. I think Aleshia_BH did a solo no-reload Ascension run with a sorcerer. Didn't even use Wish-resting, iirc. Perhaps Aleshia can give you a few hints. It's most certainly doable with a F/M (did that one myself) and i've heard of people doing it with a Beastmaster.

Greetings Mechlin12. It sounds like you have an excellent run going. Congrats!
No reloading Ascension with a sorcerer is definitely doable. In the past I completed a trilogy no reload with a sorceress named Alanis in a Tactics (parts) + Ascension (all) installation. Recently, my sorceress Alicia solo no reloaded a SCS(almost all) + Ascension (all) install up to the final battle- ultimately falling to Mel, mostly due to a poorly chosen opening. Redoing the battle, I worked out a safe method for completing the core version which also works on insane. A report on the insane version can be found here.
(Major spoilers of course...)

Should you leave Ascension installed? I can't rightly say- it all depends on your comfort level and how important finishing is to you. It sounds to me like you'd find the Ascension version more satisfying though. And if that's the case, I'd recommend going for it: if your sorcerer falls you can always try again. Your odds of success in this run would be significantly higher in vanilla however.
(I may be able to provide more detailed advice if you post your spell book.)
Anyhoo. Whatever you choose, I'd encourage you to post your remaining battle in the No Reload Challenge thread. We may not be able to add you character to the Hall of Heroes since the first two legs of the challenge weren't covered, but we'd enjoy reading your posts nonetheless; you may find it enjoyable as well.
Cheers,
A.
