I am wondering this because of how the dialogue is written, in order to spare Alistair´s life, the warden can tell Anora "No, you owe me a boon. Let him go".

Anora responds as if the warden is actually spending the royal boon, and allows Alistair to leave. However at the end of the game, Anora still lets the warden pick a boon as reward for saving Ferelden, even if it was supposedly spent before in order to save Alistair.

I would like to know if this is a bug, or if the dialogue with Anora should have been worded differently. I am worried that sparing Alistair may mean that the boon granted at the ending will be ignored. I want Alistair to live, but it is more important for me to have the boon acknowledged.

Does anyone know if the boon carries over to DAII even if you spare alistair? If it carries over, then it could mean that the dialogue with Anora means nothing and that sparing alistair is not a boon on itself, but a dialogue option.

The favour you're calling in to spare Alistair is for putting her on the throne, the boon at the end is for saving the kingdom. I don't think they exclusive.

I don't think I can confirm this in DA2 because my boon gets ignored anyway, but I can't see it being made an issue when it doesn't seem to otherwise.

Most of the boons are bugged anyway, at the end of the Origins and in DA2, except with mods. No mention is made of most of them (unless you make Alistair king, then the Circle boon comes up in the conversation with him, if you make the right choices during Hawke's conversation with him). Kirkwall is in the Free Marches, across the sea from Ferelden. Hawke has other things on his mind rather than worrying about people from a country he abandoned 7 years ago.

The only pertinent information that seems to carry over is: What side quests are triggered by certain actions in DAO and Awakening and who's butt sits on the throne. And even then the ruler thing has only a handful of lines.

For all intents and purposes, Hawke is a Kirkwall citizen, not a Fereldan.

And I always took the "You owe me" dialogue as meaning "I spared your damn father, now you spare Alistair for me."
