Holly sh*tballs! 3 enemies! Better call in a 30 billion credit air strike! Sorry, I just had to poke fun at the god old U.S. military but now for the serious stuff.

SERIOUS STUFF: Ok so your pined down and a lot of big enemies (like Geth Colossi if they are to return) are closing in. Now you may have your Heat-seeking missile launcher but after 10 shots your screwed. So from the computer in your armor, you designated a spot on the map and call in some orbital bombardment from the Normandy's main gun. There could be things to prevent it from over use like saying that Normandy needs to orbit again before you can call in the strike or just have a reload timer. Maybe this could be added in DLC or in ME3. Thoughts?

I think that people on these forums would go absolutely nuts about this, and not in a good way. This brings up the whole "Shooter Vs RPG" thing again.

Thoughts? lol, i'll give you some thoughts, some well thought out thoughts that you seem to lack in your original post.

1. Stop asking for random features to be added as DLC, you obviously don't know how the system works.

2. This isn't Call of Duty: Modern Effect. My thoughts are that you should go over to MW2 if you want airstrikes or stay here if you want a mix or RPG + 3rd person Shooter.

But come on you have a big ship in orbit with a gun that can apparently fire straight through a dreadnought. It comments in the codex that in guerrilla wars orbital bombardment is heavily used. It just seems like it should exist to some extent. At least once in a cut scene in ME3

I think that using the type of round that went through Sovereign would kill shep to cause that would be a pretty big explosion. And a round small enough to hit only the target(s) would possibly have problems when entering the atmosphere.

I'm sure in the Mass Effect universe they'd be able to hold a geosyncronus orbit much like today. Reload time seems more satisfactory. Good idea.

In the original, the idea was to keep the Normandy in stealth so that the ground team could do their thing.

In ME2, we will see how it works.

PathofDaggers is right, from what I recall a Human Dreadnaught MAC round has a kinetic force of about 38 kilotons, an equivalent of 3 Hiroshima bombs hitting the ground about 50m away from Shepard. Even a Frigates MAC blast would probably enough to decimate a 200msq area, if not more, so yeah, although I like the idea, I highly doubt it would be implemented.

Why the hell would you got down there in the first place, when you can just go 'pew pew' from space?

I'm betting on there being a mission that makes use of whats described in the OP. You go in on the ground to paint a hard target then you fight your way out of the killzone before the payload is delivered.

I'd cry manly tears if they slowed the action mere milliseconds from impact to show a smiley face or "Cry some more!" or some other kickass message etched into the front or side of the slug.

For a professional like Shepard, no air strikes are needed.
