It's a very serious post. I'm thinking of the number of times Shepard remarks how incredible it is that s/he found a real life Prothean after the mission. I'm at zero so far. Why is this not a problem?

Ah, yes. All these are equivalent to Shepard's death an resurrection.

Saving the galaxy? Finding a living Prothean? Replacing the Shadow Broker? In a world where brains are integrated with VIs and tissue cloning is commonplace, yes, those seem every bit as 'equivalent' to Lazarus if not more so.

I think it has something to do with the "point" of... something. Something.

How the hell do you bring something back to life with goo for one thing. Then ask how his brain even survives that long in a vacuum, followed by entering the atmosphere of a planet, ended with his body being drug around for months having a body that you can't tell is "a man or a woman, but somehow that brain is just dandy. That's idiotic. Then you have to explain how any of the damage was reversed. But in your mind, I bet he just beat back facts with his heroness and space jebus powers, am I right?

Really, what is there to wonder? Shepard was dead. Cerberus restored function to his or her brain and body. Is Shepard somehow at fault for accepting that as the simplicity it is?

I think the difficulty arises that such a viewpoint is both explicitly materialist, which several people here may not share, and somewhat regrettably incurious about a wholly unprecedented technological development with certain psychological and arguably spiritual ramifications.

See, even if it was just because Lazarus was a 'bigger deal,' you would think I would hear some complaints along the same vein about all the other events of the series. Maybe not as many, but definitely some. It sounds very silly to me that this would somehow be a story-breaking problem for Lazarus but completely fine and dandy for everything else.

So I'm wondering to myself why this is. Wondering to myself why we have this situation here on the BSN.

I said Shepard's death and resurrection, not Lazarus Project. You seem to regard Shepard being brought back to life as if it's nothing to Shepard; as if s/he was getting over a cold.

Well, in terms of the Protheans, the shock is somewhat less because we already saw Prothean stasis pods in ME1, which only failed to work because of draining power supplies. Hence, it's less of a shock to one's preconceptions to see a working stasis pod in ME3.

And what's saving the galaxy to Shepard, Raven? What's losing Ashley or Kaidan? (and not mentioning them again for the rest of the game after the debriefing.) What's being made the first human Spectre in history? How many times is that mentioned once Shepard takes control of the Normandy?

What. Are. You. Talking. About.

My Shepard said it was a mission and we got it done. Stop assuming that everyone is the same.

A continuing project, something that does get mentioned, something that's treated with plenty of ceremony on that occasion.

Complaints along this same vein? Complaints to the tune of 'This big thing happened, Shepard doesn't talk about it, bad writing'?

I'm seeing an akward and weird little girl who doesn't have a lot of maturity or common sense.

I want a strong, independent, competent, mysterious, and confident woman.
