I bought Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights complete from Gamer's gate and downloaded it. So far I can tell, NWN is fine, but NWN 2 was downloaded without an auto update, but that's only one problem I notice away. I've discovered more and I tried resolving it with Gamer's gate, but they couldn't fix it and suggested I try contacting the developers of the game, or looking elsewhere. I don't know what to do, I've Googled my problem, but there are a lot of problems, I just want to play my damn game without these problems, and the time it's taking me to find solutions is taking way too long, and I don't want to mess up my computer, so please, for the love of all that is good in this world, help me, please!

When I move my character, like when the character is running or walking across the map, the camera follows after the character in short, choppy bursts. It isn't only my character, but all the NPCs, too. When they walk or run, they move forward in short choppy bursts like there's a low frame rate in the game, only their stationary movements are just fine, it's only when they move forward.

Also, some textures are missing. When I go to create a character, the planet-touched, yuan-ti pureblood, and the grey orc models are missing. I've included some pictures below.

Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
System Manufacturer: Alienware
System Model: M14xR2
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3210 CPU @ 2.50GHz (4CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Memory: 6144MB RAM
Page file: 3953MB used, 10262MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

I found out that "Skywing" has extensions that would fix the choppy movement problem but I don't understand the instructions.  He says I can place the file anywhere.  What does that mean?  Anywhere in the NWN 2 folder, anywhere in my computer?  Up my ass?  Where?  I'm so confused, also, the link he provides that takes me where to download it has multiple download links.  Which one do I download?  All of them?

Is my current game version up to date, or do I need the auto updater?  If I need it, how do I get it? Where to download and install?

I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the whole thing and I still have the same problem, only before, when I had saved games, the game would crash when I created a new game and clicked on "character selection".  I couldn't get a screen cap of that for some reason, though.  Now that I reinstalled it, it doesn't have that problem, but I also don't have the characters I made before, either?  Will it crash again if I go to character selection once I've already made new characters?

These are way too many problems for me to handle, and I'm way too inexperienced to trust myself downloading and placing things where they need to go.
I realize that most these problems have been answered before, but they weren't clear enough for me to understand.  Please understand, and please help, I really love this game, and I've been searching for solutions for a whole month.

Going to answer what I can at this moment, and hope others also chime in for anything I may have missed.

You have the latest version, looking at the main menu screenshot's report of its version number.

I've heard the package contains an erroneous set of 2DA files causing some SoZ player models and probably other things to be missing, due to it having Mysteries of Westgate bundled incorrectly.  There's a solution. Go here: http://www.ossianstudios.com/mow  to the section "Download 2DA Files (right-click to save zip file)"  If the file doesn't contain instructions on installing them, try this FAQ here, which mentions it: http://www.ossianstu...WN2_MoW_FAQ.txt

For Skywing's Client Extension, the latest version is always at this link: http://www.nynaeve.n...sion_Latest.zip (posted in forum topic here: http://social.biowar...1/index/3116438 )

You should install the files directly into your NWN2 program folder, and run the launcher it comes with instead of the usual one.

Thanks, I knew that the final version was 1.23, I was just a little caught off guard by the zero...  Also, the choppy animations were fixed with that download from skywing, but I still can't fix the missing texture issue for MoW.

1. Make sure to install MoW first.
2. Go to the folder called: "..\\My Documents\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\Campaigns\\Westgate_Campaign\\2da".
3. Move the 2DA files you have there to some other location as backup (you
can delete them afterwards).
4. Copy the new 2DA files from the zip file into this folder (make sure the 2DA
files are at the root of this folder and not in a subfolder when you unzip).
5. Start NWN2 and a new MoW campaign. Things should now be working correctly.

It's already installed and I'm not sure if I can install MoW first, downloading from Gamer's Gate takes a long time, and it is a little weird.  Also, I tried finding the folder the instructions wanted me to unzip the 2DA file in, but it only went as far as:  Documents\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\Campaigns\\
My folders never went any further than that, so I tried created the extra two folders to see if it'd work that way, it didn't, so I tried again without the two added folders, that didn't work, either.
Plus, there weren't any 2DA folders there beforehand for me to remove.

I do?  How do you know?  Also, how do I get DirectX 11?
I downloaded it several times!

I don't believe you can install MoW first -- I don't know for sure, but I expect the bundle sold by Gamer's Gate installs the whole thing for you. So you'd have to skip that step.

As for the directory, see what happens if you install them into Documents\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\override instead.

[Edited to correct double-negative and unintended meaning]

Sorry, I was wondering if you confirmed it was installed :)  .  It probably was, just didn't see a mention of it in your post.  Seeing as how you can get in game, it must be.

It worked!  Yay!  I love you!

Glad to hear it. It's not the ideal solution, since there are other, more proper locations where 2DAs should be installed, but the override is a quick way of checking to see if that's what the problem was in the first place. I don't have the Mysteries of Westgate pack, (I bought the Platinum edition, which didn't include it), but the way to find its true home would be to look for where the MoW campaign folder was actually installed, since it wasn't in the location the doc told you to look.

In my installation, the official campaigns are installed in the folder where the game was installed, such as "Program Files\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\Campaigns". If Mysteries of Westgate is in there, then you should be able to find the bad 2DA files and replace them there.

(P.S. -- In my last message, I meant "I don't believe you CAN install MoW first," confirming what you thought.)
