I am about to head out to Omega so I wanted to test out various shoties on the firing range before deciding how to equip Aria. I am probably going to go with the Graal, but I had a question.

What I found is that when I shot "from the hip," so to speak, there was a noticeable spread pattern on the targets. But when I took an aimed shot there was no spread at all. Does this difference apply to squad mates? Also, is this some kind of indication that not as many fletchetes are being fired when taking an aimed shot?

All the shotguns inherit that characteristic from the base class, namely a 15% accuracy bonus when aimed down the sites. This actually is not necessarily reflected in the impact "stickers" that are placed on objects, but is when calculating hits on enemies.

Exception is Crusader, which has aim errors specified.

I would pick the claymore or crusader for her personally, but whatever floats your boat.

Am I right in being under the impression that the crusader is hitscan for squadmates ? It sure looked that way when i tested.

In the end I decided it didn't matter: I had her use the Tempest because I wanted her for her powers, not her weapons. Just put her in cover, evolve her for rapid cool downs, put the power magnifier on her SMG, and let her go to town with reave and carnage. (She has some really powerful powers, but man, they take forever to cool down, even with the 140% cool down evolution.)

The Crusader is hitscan for everyone including the player.

There is a function for shotguns that essentially spreads all the pellets out over time that is defined for the shotgun base class.  The short version of the explanation is that while this is usually unnoticeable for the rest of the shotguns, it makes the Crusader behave oddly since it only fires 1 slug instead of 8 shot, so you get the 0.1s delay.

There is also work on a patch to fix this... (for PC people that is).  Crusader with no aim delay is pretty good.

I take it this crusader of which you speak is a DLC weapon? The only DLC I have are the story ones. None of the multi-player, appearance, weapons, armor, or special edition stuff.

N7 Crusader is included with the Collector's Edition since it is an N7 gun. But the thing is all the CE guns and all preorder bonus guns are on everyone's game CD. That includes:

N7 Hurricane
N7 Crusader
N7 Eagle
N7 Valiant
N7 Valkyrie
Indra
Raider
Chakram
Argus
Collector Assault Rifle

Some of these were then unlocked in other DLC. For example, Leviathan will unlock the Raider and Argus, and Omega will unlock the Chakram and Valkyrie.  I have a custom keybinding set so if I press numpad 9 it will give me the rest of them (except the Indra since I had a code for that one from Alienware).
