Uhh, BioWare themselves have never been that shy about showing off "the ladies" (or gentlemen, as the case may be with Varric). That doesn't take it all the way to the naked end of the chainmail bikini continuum.

Generally the DA team has been more tasteful about it than the ME team at least, but the shown image doesn't seem particularly offensive either.

I guarantee, when we see a male character, they will have MORE armor when they get stronger, not LESS.

EDIT: And I don't really find it "offensive", per se, but simply "mildly troubling". Why, as she becomes stronger, does she take off her armor? That doesn't make any sense, unless it's just to show off her cleavage.

Varric the Qunari. You can bet your bottom dollar if we play a female Quanri in game she will wear more then Iron Bull wears.

That is depressing. Dragon Age has been pretty good about being rather fair to both sexes, for the most part. Whether mage, warrior, or rogue, women wear the same armor as men (perhaps with slightly different peaks and valleys...).

But here, we see that Leliana, as she gets more powerful, decides it's time to show off the ladies. I know Bioware is not developing this game, so I hope it's not seen as a negative mark against them. But honestly, I thought this franchise was better than the "chain mail bikini" crowd of hack fantasy.

I won't get up in arms, because like I said, it's a different developer. But please Bioware, stay away from this sort of thing in DA:I.

Thank you so much for voicing your opinion on this ^_^ I had the exact same reaction and feeling when I saw this picture. I wasn't aware BW had nothing to do with this game, but I think it's important that they do see some of us are having this reaction.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why ppl get offended if a character shows a tiny bit of skin, I mean its not like she is in an ACTUAL bikini she barely has a cleavage, I am a woman too and I don't really feel offended by that at all, I mean if she were to wear like a G string or something and totally look like a stripper yea, but a tiny little cleavage like that no not so much

It's not worse than the Dalish armour in DA:O, and Leliana was quite likely to wear that for at least a period. It's not much worse than the regular leather armour in DA:O.

(Hooray for tmp7704's mod)

Though I do hope it's just something for this game and not going to be showing up in Inquisition.

Sounds awfully boring if you just pick the party and then watch the fight play out without interacting. If it gives me a bonus or two for DA:I I'll play it, sure, but it just looks pointless other than that. Dragon Age Legends wasn't succesful, but at least you could be strategic and pick your attacks. Same with Dragon Age Journeys.

I assumed that armor shows how she will look when she merges with diffefent classes. The fourth one looks so...mage-y. o: I like it, however. I hope there are various armours that allow my PC to show some skin, as well as plenty that cover her up. ^^

I really liked Dragon Age Journeys.  I would have paid money to play more of that.

But the promised 2nd and 3rd acts never appeared.

I wonder if it says "not compatible with your devices" because of this delay, or because it's actually not compatible technically. "Not available in your region" would offer more clarity if it's the former...

Apparently it's been available in Australia for a few days now o___O

The app is free to play so I'm downloading it and giving it a go. Might post thoughts when I've played a bit.
edit: just quietly really hoping for playable nugs.

Just an update: I've been playing it for roughly a week. After the tutorial and starting levels, the difficulty spike is enormous and it becomes incredibly difficult to proceed without buying powerful characters or paying real money for in-game currency (which I haven't done).

The push to get players to buy hero packs (or buy gems) is fairly aggressive, and the chances of getting useful heroes just by grinding are fairly small. The upper-tier heroes - including all the named ones like Alistair, etc - are pretty much only unlockable by getting the higher packs, which are bought with gems or real money.

It's a bit of annoying design - unlocking powerful characters requires gems, but winning the battles to acquire gems is next to impossible without powerful characters. It might push people to buy gems or pay for heroes, but it means there's practically no way to play the game without doing this. Mass Effect's microtransaction system at least had the option of buying the higher packs with currency that was earned in-game.

It has a nice bit of strategy involved and visually it looks pretty great, but there's next to no story or lore information and I got frustrated really quickly with how the game funnels you towards buying gems. There's probably a market for this sort of thing, but I don't think I'm it.

Just a note on the difficulty curve -- it's not intended to be as steep as it is right now, and it's something the developers are working on fixing currently (per a dev post on the game's new forums). That's not to say that the game won't still try to encourage people to buy gem packs, since that's where their income is going to come from, but with luck after the update it should once again be able to progress through the levels even without having full teams of Epic/Legendary heroes, which right now does become nigh impossible.

It still isn't going to be a game that appeals to everyone, but they're definitely still working things out, esp. balancing. Hence the soft release for select regions first before opening it up to the broader US marketplace. :)
