Uuummmm..... It looks like a ton of fun, but it's not actually letting me play. No matter what I touch it advances to the next stage of the game. It's like I'm just watching the story. Is the first bit simply instructional, or do I need to uninstall it and download it again?

The entire first map is a tutorial, as well as the first level of the second map.

Out of curiosity, for those who have been playing: has anyone gotten Zevran yet?  I'm hopeful he's recruitable :)

Hey everyone, I'm one of the game designers for Heroes of Dragon Age.  I'm glad you folks are enjoying the game!

We do encourage you to use the official Heroes of Dragon Age forums for discussion of the game:

http://forums.klickn...display.php/174
(Capital Games used to be a startup called KlickNation before we were acquired by EA!)

Anyway, to answer your question, Zevran isn't currently in the game but he is planned for a future update in the fairly near future (within a few months)...  our update schedule is pretty intense :)

Thank you!  I truly appreciate the reply :)  I've been checking the HoDA forums as well, and will take discussion there.  The official forums, and the Facebook page, have been a great help.

Sorry, but I don't want to register at one more forum or social network. It's becoming really hard to remember all those countless passwords. Why Heroes of Dragon Age doesn't have its own section here, on BSN?

So I've hit a wall in this game and it's really frustrating. I was casually playing the quests and then started getting into the battles, but I found that I was just out-manned with my squad lineup. I have three epics and two rares and most of the people in the battles have all epics and some legendary (I think that this is what they're called, the green ones). So I decided to go back to the quests and master the ones that I've beaten. Now, remember that I was doing pretty well before this, I had gotten to about halfway through the highway and only had a few losses.

I went back and grinded through The First Blight and Zathrian's Curse and got to the Lady of the Forest battle. At this point, I'm level 9. I begin to "master" this quest and got up to 9 out of 12 victories with few problems.

Then I hit level 10 and now I can't win this battle. I got completely wiped out (0 for 6) on one attempt, so I cash in all my gems to try to get more legendary heroes and got nothing better than rare in 4 packs. So I cash in my gold for the worse packs and get nothing more than the common (silver) heroes in 6 packs. So I turn to my runes and start using my strongest runes. In the second attempt, I got 1 more victory out of 6. I wait for the clock to restart and go again. 0 out of 6 victories. I try one more time, this time running out of all but the most basic level runes. 0 out of 6 victories.

I've bought 10 packs, combined characters, consumed characters, applied runes, etc. I have gotten 1 victory out of 24 attempts. Now I'm stuck at 10/12 on this quest and just can't get past it. I'm not going to spend any money on the gems. In games like this, I always buy gems (or their equivalent) when I first start, but never again. If I can't "win" the gems to move forward, then the game isn't for me.

It's a shame really because I love Dragon Age and was having alot of fun with this game until I hit this wall. Now I'm ready to just throw it away because it's set up an arbitrary wall at a random spot. Is there a giant difficulty spike at level 10? That's the only explanation I can think of for why the same group of heroes (leveled between 14 and 15) would suddenly go from a 9-1 record in a battle to a 10-24 record in that same battle.

I have hit the same wall. I am Level 13, with a Rare Circle Bethany, Epic Grey Warden Alistair, Legendary Merrill, Legendary Isabela, and Legendary Queen of the Blackmarsh, and I still cannot get past the beginning of the Broken Circle. I have wasted nearly 30$ on gems, and it has done absolutely nothing to help at all. There is no reason at all to have to buy so many gems just to progress.

I have been playing the game (no actual money spent) for a while and I will say that it is okay.

My squad isn't the best in the world, but I do like how there so much variety in the units to choose from.

Apart from the RNG gods hating me I have two big concerns about the game:

1. Why is it that the large monster slot is so slow AND so easy to kill?

I have a Lvl 14 Sylvan IV *Uncommon* and he only has 750-ish health and has slow initiative. I would have thought that the larger creatures would have a ton of health and/or armor to compensate for their slow speed. Plus the damage output for the creatures is easily overshadowed by the smaller sized heroes who all have more health, damage output, as well as speed at equal levels.

Am I doing something wrong here, or does the larger units seem lackluster to anyone else?

2. Upgraded lower tier units being worse then lvl 1 units at a higher their.

I get that the game is a Free-2-Play, "Give me your money" mobile app, but really, the bronze level units suck, even when upgraded. I mean why would the game even have the option to combine the lower their units when the higher tiers are better then them at level 1 anyways?

I have a lvl 21 Werewolf IV *Common* and his stats are completely out shined by an Uncommon unit at level 1. Again I get the micro-transaction heavy nature of the game, but really, if I am able to combine a unit to its maximum level, AND then have said unit at 20 lvls higher then a more rare hero, it should actually be worth the time and effort.

I've also hit a wall...although I haven't been lucky enough to get a legendary character at all. And I've bought a lot of packs.....

Other than Rares, I only have three Epics. Carver, Yavana, and Fenris.

I've grinded for gold to buy packs so that I can consume and combine, and have that chance at a higher level character. I've done what quest mastering I could to get gems to buy advanced packs.

I've been battling just to get some experience and get gold when my questing points run out.

I'm level 11 and can't complete the Highway map. I've tried about 20 battles with various runes (and why do unused runes expire??) and party configurations on the last battle needed to complete the map....no luck.

Stuck stuck stuck with no way to adavance does not for a fun game make. It's frustrating and annoying.

And they need to do some balancing with attacks and damage. I don't understand how my Charred Sylvan with 1500 hp can get killed by two attacks that do about 800 points of damage total between them.

(Oh, and I know the game wasn't done by Bioware....so no complaints there Bioware.....I registered for the forums at the game site....BUUUT, it won't let me post or reply to any forum topics...stupid)

I have only one epic character - Duncan, and he's not very exciting. Hits a single target, that's it.

Some abilities are just so much better than others. For example:

Tevinter Slaver, uses blood magic to do low damage to all enemies and heal himself in the process. Sounds great on paper, but the dude has so low HP that he generally dies from one hit anyway.

Then, desire demon. Uses a scream attack to do laughable damage to all enemies, but has a moderate chance to stun. After days of being stuck against the carta thugs, that ability got me forward again. Sure, it's all luck based, but she often stuns 1 - 3 enemies each round, sometimes all 4, and my other guys just mop up.

My big sylvan is not much help. Half of the time it dies before getting to attack even once.

Balancing is really, really off in that game... not that it's really much of a game since it practically plays itself.

My condolences.

On the positive side, this is the first DA-related "social game" that I've genuinely enjoyed and didn't just play in order to unlock rewards for the main DA games (and refuse to give money to out of principle as a result).

I came in not expecting to like the game, but figuring it would be churlish not to at least try it out...and I was pleasantly surprised. Very pleasantly surprised.

I hit the same difficulty spike a few months ago when HoDA was soft-launched in Australia - at the time they promised that updates would allow players to get further without buying gems, but it seems like that hasn't happened. I stopped playing ages ago because I simply coudn't proceed with any of the quests - the only option was just grinding old maps, and that's a waste of time.

It's a real shame, because the game becomes practically unplayable after a certain point when your team is just outclassed by every enemy in every quest.

I never pay money for item packs, but given that you spent $30 and are still stuck it sounds like the game design is pretty broken. I know the development philosophy for F2P games is to gently encourage players to purchase item packs, but HoDA looks a bit cynical and mean with how aggressively mandatory those gems become after a few hours.

I'll echo most of the other folks.

Game is fun as a bit of a time waster even if the connection to DA is mostly cosmetic - you could take the DA skins off and have this be Heroes of Mass Effect or Heroes of Forza (and I love the image of cars trying to kill each other) with no real change in gameplay and, frankly, I suspect that is the intent.

Difficulty is crazy. FTP so they want microtransactions, i get it, but the game is brutal about slapping you in the face with practically needing it. I'm willing to ignore that and grind away a bit but I've hit a point where I have a pretty high rent squad (one 3rd and the rest 4th tier monsters) and I'm stuck pretty hard and fast.

Unit balance is a bit dicey. I'd venture that a part of 4 of those bald circle mages would clean up since they have stunning AoE type attacks.

Agreed.

I have applauded ME 3's MP for a good example of how micro-transactions could work, but this game is quickly becoming one the bad examples (IMO) at how handicapped a person is if they don't want to spend real world money.

jup, i also hit the wall. I have 3 epics and 2 rares on my team, all pretty much levelled up at the moment. But the thing is, the wall doesn't come gradually, it is suddenly there. From one mission where you own, to the next mission where you just siomple never ever get past, unless you get at least 2 legendaries.

And since the odds of getting legendaries in 1500coin-packs are laughable low, I doubt I see myself progressing in this game.

a shame, really. Because this could have been fun.

Made it past the highway final boss.....by having my Epic Grey Warden Carver CONSUME my higher level Epic Fenris.

Consumed everything I could to get thet 2x hit level up. Grinded for more gems last night.....to purchase packs.....didn't get anything better than an uncommon (silver)....and I bought like 5 packs. Caved last night and bought some gems.....bought 3 of those packs that cost gems...didn't get anything other than a rare (gold).

I have a Rare Charred Sylvan III, Epic Carver II, Epic Yavana, Rare Dark Revenant II, and a Rare Grey Warden Rogue.

How the heck at level 13, at Arlathan, even some of those bonus green quests from completeing the previous maps, can the baddies be hitting for 2000 points while I'm still hitting for 500 points WITH a 2x damage bonus. I'm not even that far into the game and they are so overpowered compared to me. Can't make it past the first Arlathan point now.

And PvP....come on! It's matching me up continually with people who are level 20 or higher.....or even people near my level who have ALL legendray characters. Someone on there has 4 legendary mages, and a legendary archdemon. And the stupid PvP random generator keeps matching me against them.....NEXT!

And that's really bothersome. I woke this morning to see "You'be been attacked and lost!" .....10 of those messages.....so I lost a butt ton of 'trophy points'. Click to see who attacked me? It's all these people with mostly legendary characters or who are 2x my level. So even the PvP is starting to suck.

I'm giving it another day. Maybe two then unistalling. I'm fine with a time waster-grinder game to pass the time.....but not when it gets frustrating like and too hard to advance like this.

Oh....and if the guy from whatever company it is that's doing HoDA is still on this board....I'm posting my complaints here since your forum site STILL won't let me post or reply to messages. Image IPB

How is everyone getting multiple epics? I can only have one and it is frustrating. I have tons of rare but they aren't that great. I am level 13 and still have trouble getting by places on the map. Please let me know how you get so many epics!!!

I wasted damn near about $30 in gems to get all those good characters, and it still isn't enough.

I have really enjoyed this little game. There are so many nifty characters to find. I was super lucky and got Aveline (she is a fave of mine) as one of my first characters. I might buy some gems later on if I continue to enjoy the game.

Quick math:
Gems Dollars per Champion Pack
1600 2.38
720 2.77
275 2.85
121 3.33
46 3.99
22 No packs

So that means, if you spend 99.99 you can purchase a total of 42 complete Champion Packs...so it comes out to $2.38 (USD) to purchase each CHANCE at anything greater than a Rare character.

Seems a little pricey for each chance. Especially since the % rate of retun for anything greater than a Rare doesn't seem to be so good.

Hey guys, if you are having troubles passing the level, here's what I discovered:

- Faction bonus: If you have all 4 characters (Big creature slot does not count) with the same color, you will get faction bonus (for example, if you have 1 full red, 2 red/white, and 1 red/black character, you still get faction bonus because they all have red in their base). As far as I can tell, this faction bonus will affect your damage. And extra damage is always a good thing.

- Faction advantage: There are 4 different faction colors: Red >>> Blue >>> Black >>> White. That means red strong against blue, blue strong against black, black strong against white, and white strong against red. Use that to your advantage. For example, I was playing the Circle map, and most enemies are Black (abormination / demons / evils etc), so I create a party entirely made of Blue (Mages) since Blue is strong against Black. Add that with some useful runes (speed increase is the most useful imo, I also use stun resist and power increase), and I was able to clear the whole map.

- Stun is your best friend: It's true. Always try to have 1 or 2 characters that can stun enemies in your team. Like Strout, who can hit all enemies with small chance of stun.

- PvP: Always use up all your energy / stamina to maximize the amount of gold and exp you can make.

- Consuming add critical rate (capped at 15% I believe) so consume and combine as much as you can.

- Position your team: Back row give bonus to crit and damage I think, while front rows give you HP bonus. Personally, I put my fast / having stun ability characters in the back, and heavy, slow hitter to the front.

- Challenge is your farm: If you stuck, spam challenges, especially the first one. I got epic Anders from it. It has small chances to drop runes and epic characters and relatively easy so just farm them and level up / making money and improve your squad. It takes time but patience is virtue :)

Good luck and have fun playing :)

Well I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who had this problem. And here I thought that by posting, people would call me a complainer and troll me out of the thread!

Well, here's my update. I went past the Forest to "master" the ones in the Deep Road that I had already beaten and was able to get enough gems to buy another pack and was relieved to see that I got an Epic Corypheus, so he allowed me to get through a bunch of other quests. I bought a bunch of the "silver" packs with the gold that I earned and I got an epic Aveline too. So now I have 5 epics: Aveline, Duncan (I agree that he's underwhelming), Orsino, Corypheus, and the Pride Demon from the tutorial. And I still can't beat the Lady of the Forest. I got one more win, but she wrecked me (or rather, the werewolves did) the rest of the times. 11 more attempts. Only 1 more win. So now my record on this battle is 11-35!  And I'm level 16-17 now with all Epics. Urgh.

I think I know the problem. The Werewolf is Blue (magic creatures) while Corypheus (pure black) and Duncan (white/black) are weak against them (Blue strong against Black). That makes the wolves deal extra damage against these 2. Try to replace them with other faction character (preferably red since Red strong against Blue), and use speed runes so you can attack first, that might help.
