It is funny how opposed people are to death in the midst of a war.

I expected anyone could die at anytime except Shepard, so it would be bitter, but understandable.

It would be interesting.

In most of my playthroughs he is not alive in ME3. Who would take his place for the bomb mission?

I actually expected another Virmire-like situation somewhere, where the impact was greater than Ashley/Kaidan, where there was really not enough time for bonding investment there. I guess Rannoch is close, but Legion kicks it either way.

I dislike him because it feels like I'm being treated like a child..

Like.. Say if two adults were good friends and they both had kids. One brings their kid over and plops them down with their friend's kid. "Now go play. Timmy is going to be your new best friend." That's how I see Garrus. You can't force that stuff.

I have... some similar issues, but I don't feel it that hard, in large part because I don't see there being any better candidates for the position.

It's not his mission. It makes zero sense for him to die there.

You have the option to not even bring Garrus on the mission which is perfectly reasonable. Just because he's a Turian does not mean he's responsible for anything Turian-related.

However, there should have been a good chance that Archangel died while you were trying to recruit him in ME2.

Steelcan is correct.

Considering how much this forum complaints about romances, it somewhat irritates me that not a lot of people immediately notice the very glaring and serious problem with having a love interest die with no foreshadowing.

Same principle applies to both. There are times when it seems they're just dying to make Shep and Liara the Bioware equivalent of Cloud and Aeris. I don't think any of it belongs in a western rpg.

Garrus is too important a character for a side mission to be his bon voyage.  ANd there would have to be a reasonable lead up to his death.

And yet you seem okay with a LI cheating with no foreshadowing.

So it's okay to screw people over provided their choice was unpopular?

Now, this is where we part ways, largely because the romance subplot doesn't add anything except annoyance to the story if you romanced Jacob. Which some few did.

Also, it comes across as being just a touch racist.

Not just unpopular. Bloody vacant. A wasteland. Sterile. How many months have I been here, and have yet to meet a single person who canonically romanced Jacob?

I believe Dean_the_Young did on his Paragon playthrough.

And again, how does his cheating help the story?

Yes, frankly.

Whether or not it was worth it or produced a better product is more of a case-by-case basis. But I see nothing wrong with it in theory.

I'm pretty sure the few Jacob romancers left BSN after ME3, unsurprising
