Miranda's fanbase was far too large and volatile for that to work, so I'm not surprised they didn't do it there. Jacob, though, doesn't seem to have much of an explanation.StreetMagic wrote...
I'm kind of surprised by Jacob. Thane and Miranda were new ME2 romances that had a hint that they could just be temporary (whether it was Thane's illness or some of the presentation in how Miranda comes off like a fling). From what I can tell from Jacob, he seems more serious and longterm, like Jack. So it's weird he didn't get the same treatment as Jack.
Well, it's large, I doubt that's deniable. As for volatile... keep in mind that it was responsible for getting the character forum shut down after what was practically the fandom equivalent of civil war.o Ventus wrote...

Miranda, Garrus, Mordin, Liara, Wrex, Javik, Samara, Kasumi, Zaeed already showed that emphatically.David7204 wrote...
The point of having Jacob leave Shepard was to show that characters aren't hopelessly dependent on her. That they can exist and function and their own. Something that fans supposedly want.
Jacob was the obvious choice.
Even Grunt showed that in ME3 (while still being less than two years old) if you did his rite of passage.
The only hopelessly dependent squadmates are:
- VS: Fails on the Citadel and dies without Shepard's intervention
- Tali: Fails at everything and dies without Shepard's help
- Legion: Sold for scrap without Shepard's intervention and/or die in ME3 without Shepard's help
- Jack: Gets captured and brainwashed in ME3 without Shepard's help
- Thane: Dies miserably without Shepard's help. With Shepard's help he dies happily - how different that is is debatable.

Ehehe, no. Mordin needs Shep's help, Garrus needs Shep's help, Miri needs Shep's help, Samara needs Shep's, Wrex needs Shep's help and the rest die anyway if you don't do their loyalty. I also don't see how Tali "fails at everything".iOnlySignIn wrote...

Also, permit me to point out that your reaction to my calling the fanbase volatile was to swear at me and call me stupid.

Everyone must die some day.The Mad Hanar wrote...
Don't forget:
- Garrus would've died on Omega
- Miranda would've been killed by Kai Leng
- Kasumi would've failed without Shepard
- Javik needed Shepard to wake up. Plus there's a good chance he's gonna kill himself.

Well, cry me a river.
I'd say all groups are pretty volatile when it comes to defending LIs. I won't name any particular BSNers but each group has a few not-very-sociable fellows.
I also based this on some things I've heard regarding internal feuds in certain Miranda groups, but very well; I'll drop the subject.o Ventus wrote...

1. Good for you. You aren't the first person I've done it too, nor will you be the last.
2. I didn't call you stupid. Read it again.
3. Yeah, because you weren't exactly subtle in insulting the entire Miranda fanbase for the C&R forum being closed. I'll say it again: I wasn't even there.
4. The irony in you actually talking to me about a fictional character's fandom astounds me.

Please. Groups are volatile when defending anything.
Silly Miradamancers. I can really only think of one actual volital Mirandamancer, to be honest. Some are pretty support of her but that doesn't make them volitale.Steelcan wrote...

The Miranda fan base split is hardly unique.
I've heard that Tali and Liara fans have had similar bouts.

No clue about Liara, but we Talimancers get along just fine and dandy.
Perhaps now, but I've heard of at least two distinct splitsNecanor wrote...
