If you want to get into arthurian analogies then:

Maric = Uther
Alistair = Arthur
Morrigan = Morgause
OGB = Mordred, conceived in accidental incest.

Except in some legends he's concieved diliberatly by her tricking Arthur,others made by magic then there's the one where he raped her.

Also in the original legends Morgan and Morgause are different women with Morgan being Arthur's barely mentioned sister and a healer who heals his knights and Morgause as an evil witch who covets the throne...It was only  in later versions that they were combined into Morgan Le Fay along with adding Guinivere and Lancelot's*or Gawain's in some versions* affair.

What if Vivian is Nimue,

what if Nimue is Rhiannon?

What if there are three Gwynhvar, no Lancelot and Morrigan and Morgawse aren't the same character?

As far as I can tell they weren't in the original stories. But Athurian legend is confusing as hell because of all the revisions and retellings.

@Arcane Exactly my point.
Also, there isn't really an original. Not even close to that. The legend are many different tales (like Gwydion's) put together as one by too many different people. They're adaptions of adaptions.

I thought the original tale was just political  propaganda by the ruling king at the time, like the story of Mcbeth.

Isn't Vivienne a bit too much...not-white to be Morrigan's mother?

"The Morrigan" is the name of a figure from Irish mythology; a shape-changing goddess of battle and strife. She has no particular connection to Arthurian legend.

Bioware probably named the character Morrigan simply because she can take animal form, just like the Morrigan of legend.

I don't think she'll have any connection to Vivienne.

Though if they threw it at us now it would seem forced, Alistair and Morrigan being siblings would actually be amusing. They bicker like siblings already.

 I'm not sure how genetics work in the DA universe, but Morigan is VERY pale, and Vivi has darker skin tones. It would probably take a few generations to have decendants of Vivienne be that pale. So I don't think the theory has good claim.

If you read stone throne, You find that Alitars father spends a night in Flemith's hut. What they did is never explained but it's stated that Flemith had 2 request the Maric(Alistars' father)Had to do and not talk about it with any one.

I had forgotten about that, the whole top secret thing. I remember racking my brain trying to connect it to something in-game and came out with the conclusion that it would resurface in a later installment.

@leaguer & Arcane

It's accepted the Arthurian tales were at first formed by two different Arthur, one God and human ( probably a comes britanniae). It isn't know when or how it started, the accepted truth, when I used to read about it, was a mere mistake. But when they become one they were also mixed with many, many different tales. Old Gods to old heroes (aspects of Finn , for example), to new things (Lancelot).   That's why there isn't a thing close to an original.

So we can say that the legend it self is it own self evolving living being with no beginning or end.

One promise was revealed in the comic "Silent grove" Maric was to use his blood to waken dragons in Antiva.
