Normally it seems that the first companions to be shown to us have been confirmed to be love interests. I can only use Dragon Age II as an example as that's the only one I remember. Isabela was the first companion to be shown and she was then confirmed to be a love interest. I wonder if Cassandra, Varric, or Vivienne are love interests? (I wouldn't mind romancing Varric!)

Actually, Varric and the Hawke siblings were confirmed first for DA2. Back in late summer 2010 I think.

What I meant to say was that usually the very first companion (Isabela) to be confirmed is later confirmed to be a love interest if using Dragon Age II as an example.

I'd bet on Cassandra and Varric being romanceable. Bioware have shown themselves willing to respond to consumer demand. Don't know enough about Vivienne.

I joined late to DAII news, so Isabela was the first companion to me. I'm just saying a theory I had (which proves to be wrong now), but it isn't a bad idea to think of the confirmed companions as love interests already.esper wrote...

I don't think so. I think they said a romance with Varric was unlikely a long time ago and he has Bianca.

It seems that Wynne has the earliest DAWiki page. It was created about a year before DAO was released.

I hope that Varric's a romance option this time around. Afterall Bianca is gone for more than 10 years now, I don't expect him to forget her, but to move on and maybe think about a future with someone else.
