I hope you are right, Cassandra is the most interesting character by far; my gut feelings tell me otherwise though, my money is on the Elven archer and the female Mage Vivianne.

As I said, I'm not saying I don't see the appeal of him, his qualities and whatnot, just that someone with issues like that can be unpredictably frustrating to deal with, and that's something you should be aware of, and prepared for, going into a relationship.

...But you aren't going into a relationship with Cullen or any character. It's your PC who is. So it just seems like you're warning Cullen fans to buckle down for a well-written and heartstring-tugging story... sign me up 8D

Sera could go either way. She sounded kind of like a brat to me and could fulfill either the "annoying little sister" trope or be a love interest. I don't think Vivienne will be one, because she was a First Enchanter, and don't they all have to be really old/experienced?

I would give my dominant arm to my archenemy and then fight my three-armed archenemy for the chance to romance Cassandra.

I missed the information about her being an ex- first enchanter, but in the trailer she didn't appear to be very old to me, though it was a bit hard to tell with her wearing that outfit.

I'd sell my entire family into slavery to romance Cassandra.

She was in line to be first enchanter, but the circles were disbanded before she got the position.

I don't think she'll be an LI though. I see her as being more of a classy middle-aged woman who is married to her profession.

Oh, I could go for that as well. Just not so much for PTSD. It's a little bit too close to home. As evidenced by my posts here.

That being said, if PTSD was indeed what they aimed for with Cullen, they nailed it.

Damn, I'm starting to sound like that's the only notable thing about him. Which is pretty far from the truth, so don't get me wrong.

I...just really want Cassandra to be an LI.
The Cullen fans, the Cassandra fans, the Varric fans...we've all waited patiently for so long, I hope the writers gave them preference over entirely new characters.

Now, Cassandra as a love interest is pretty much a given.

What makes you think that? Gut feeling?

Kinda, yeah. But also the fact that in both Origins and II, the first female featured in a trailer (Morrigan, Isabela) was the "canonical" love interest for a male character.

Morrigan and Isabela where also tied to the plot...hmm...

... the Varric fans...

Hawke: Well, well, well. I never thought you were the type, Varric. I'm flattered.
Varric: It's the chest hair, isn't it? Women can never resist my chest hair. Unfortunately, it's not to be. I'm spoken for.
Hawke: Bianca stands in my way again, does she?
Varric: What can I say? She's the jealous type.

I cannot lie. I had to look it up. Had it almost by heart though.

But yes, I've been through that conversation more than a few times.

And at the same time, I'm kind of hoping they gave enirely new character preferance over them. At the very lease, a new character romance gives you someone new to discover, even if you aren't entirely enamored with them. For those people not into Cullen, Cass, or Varric they're autimatically out an LI.

Cullen and Varric maybe, but we don't really know that much about Cass. She was barely in DA2. Cullen we know a little bit better, but he's never been a companion character.

I assume that all the party members except that bull headed Qunari, if he is a party member will be romancible.

If Vivienne is not a romance option, I will find a time machine, go to the future, pre-order DAI and then cancel my preorder just to express my frustration. Seriously Bioware, she must be a romance option for male inquisitor.

I wouldn't mind Vivienne being one of the two LI options. There's something about her I really like.

As long as we get some variety that's all that really counts.

I liked DA2's formula of 1 male human, 1 female human, and a male and female elf, especially with the return of player character races. Wouldn't mind a dwarven LI for my dwarf Inquisitor (Varric for dwarf women!), but given one of the writers expressed reluctance to have a dwarven LI, I'd say its highly unlikely.

Also, please no more blond males. Would like to see dark haired (and skinned, if possible) male LIs, or even redheads and brunets.

*And yes, I'd love for Vivienne to be an option. I rather like her appearance (and what's believed to be her concept art).

I kinda thought we'd have more, but only certain ones would be available at a time. Like Vivienne's only into mages, Sera is into other non-elf races, Cullen's only into men, etc.

I'm just assuming until it is confirmed otherwise.

Why would there be only two LI's when last time there were four? That makes no sense.

This is what I'm kind of anticipating too, what with Gaider's talk of not liking PC-Sexual LI's. It might also help with certain clams that Bioware romances are "shallow" because the LI's would have scenes built for more specific types of players, potentially adding more depth.

Also, of course Cullen's going to be a male dwarf exclusive love interest. It's what all the fans have been asking for, right?

Sorry, I was referring to the LIs for straight male characters.

I'd give my right arm for some more "mature" romance options. Maybe it's just because I'm soon to be in my 30s but older men/women, assertive and experienced, that's what I want. Cassandra would be great in that way, I think.

Also I'd love one or two with... less emotional baggage than we saw in DA2...

Varric, I'm torn between wanting to keep him my best bud and succumbing to the lure of the manly chest hair.

No one can ever resist the chest hair.

Yeah, I'd like less emotional baggage. One of the reasons the male LI romances felt a little unbalanced was because my Hawke often felt like their therapists.

Only case I could truly say that was with Fenris.

I won't get into a discussion about it, but I'll say that the general idea is that a relationship without conflict gets boring fast.
