I'm a tad disappointed that Cassandra is all we get, at least thus far; an irascible, sociopathic Chantry fanatic with a funny accent. Awesome.

She isn't what you describe here. And while the world is collapsing around, I'm sure an interrogation with a suspect ( maybe the cause of the chaos ) is not supposed to be friendly.

Well, her history of violence, her creepy obsession with her brother, her desire to do anything for her Chantry. Sounds like I made an accurate description of her, actually.

You forgot jumps to wild conclusions and that is a tad ridiculess.

History of violence ? What did she do exactly except killing some blood mages who were in the process of doing bad things or dragons ? Didn't she work with a mage ? ( you know, like one of them who killed her brother in her youth.. ) Kissing him on the cheek at the end of the anime ? While she is certainly loyal to the chantry, I don't see why you are using such a strong word ( fanatic ) to describe her. She seemed only bothered by preventing the war in Thedas by the way. In other words quite rational.

She just seems like the type of person who'd run a dagger through you if you made a joke about Andraste. As for her brother, it's been a theory that she has a rather disturbind obsession with him. I've never seen the anime, only seen what other people have said. As for the Chantry, it seems she'll have random people brought in, beaten, then interrogated just to find out where the Warden and Champion are. She's rather violently determined to keep the Chantry alive.

Except she's not even associated with the Chantry anymore.

All the associations confuse me. We have Seekers, Inquisitors, Templars, Chantry, Mages, Wardens, Orlesian Monarchies. It doesn't honestly matter who she's associated it. Bioware jumbled up all the damn allegiances to begin with. Nevertheless, whatever cause she belongs to and is working for, she acts fanatical.

Doesn't mean she can't defend the chantry though, staying loyal with her heart. While not being associated in DA:I, I'm not sure Cassandra would agree if the inquisitor tried its best to destroy the chantry.

Normally it seems that the first companions to be shown to us have been confirmed to be love interests.  I can only use Dragon Age II as an example as that's the only one I remember.  Isabela was the first companion to be shown and she was then confirmed to be a love interest.  I wonder if Cassandra, Varric, or Vivienne are love interests?  (I wouldn't mind romancing Varric!)

As long as all of them aren't two goody shoes hypocrite chantry zealots like Leliana and Cassandra.

I'm not sure where everyone is getting this "She's fanatical" idea from. Aside from the anime (which I haven't seen, so maybe there's something there) we've really only seen her in her interviews with Varric in DA2. She didn't seem fanatical to me there, just more stern and serious, eager to find the truth, and in the end she came across as having a lot of doubts, not really steadfast in her beliefs (whatever those might be.)

She's dedicated to her cause. I respect that about her. I really hope she's a LI.

In the anime, she was young and had a chip on her shoulder. In DA2, she's a little forceful in an interrogation with a man whom she believes can lead her to Hawke. She wants Hawke because the entire known world is falling into war and chaos, and she hopes Hawke can end it. If the Mage/Templar war continues, thousands of people could die, including innocents who get in the way.

But she's a zealot for wanting to stop that from happening.

May I also point out that The Chantry is actually NOT INVOLOVED in the Mage/Templar War? Both factions separated from the Chantry, which is why they are openly fighting. No matter how the war turns out, the Chantry isn't in direct danger, although the victor may turn on the Chantry. So, no, Cassandra probably isn't trying to save the Chantry. I'll bet my $80 I'm saving for DAI that she's trying to save LIVES.

No good deed goes unpunished, right?

I want an female elf romance that's a little more complex than the Hawke and Merril romance.

The female options are probably going to be Vivienne and Sera.

The male options are probably going to be Cullen and Varric.

Or at least, that is what I'd bet. Image IPB

I'm not sure how Cassandra is 'all we get.' She's not the only companion. If she's a love interest, she's not the only one.

I would hope beardy Warden is an option, but we don't know much of anything about the rest of the companions.

Does anyone else think that Cole is going to be a companion in DA3? He was in the leaked survey (even though Bioware claims it's not relevant).
If so, he'll probably end up as a romance interest. No attractive guy so far has ended up NOT being a romance interest (save Varric). So they wouldn't waste that chance.
You guys think people are crazy for liking Cassandra, calling her a sociopath.
I WOULD GO FOR COLE.
Cassandra seems pretty mellow now, eh?

Seeing as Cole is a (technically) genderless asexual fade spirit/demon it seems highly unlikely that a romance with him is going to happen simply because the very concept of it is something he cannot understand. I really do hope he's a companion though, he was a fascinating character in Asunder.

Cassandra is a safe bet that'll she'll be a LI. Varric is more then likely going to be a LI but I think that has to do more with everyone asking him to be one. He is pretty much the Garrus of Dragon Age. Show how awesome he is, everyone ask to make him a LI, and bang you got it. Not saying that their is anything wrong with that, just how it might be. I would also guess that their might be 2 or maybe even 3 more. Giving a possible of 5 choices, and hopefully they don't make every LI bi again.

I just hope we don't have only 4 LIs... Because If you prefer female romance or male romance, if you don't like one of them then you are kind of "forced" to chose the other. If Cullen is a companion, I'd like him to be romanceable. I hope there's an elf LI too, and this time I wish he could be a dalish. I'm guessing Sera will be romanceable. Maybe Vivienne and Cassandra ? And maybe this time we'll get a dwarf LI...
Also I don't know what you think about this, but I like the idea of non-romanced companions getting together *ships Varric and Cassandra*
ALSO. About the bisexuality of characters, I don't think they ARE bisexual. I just think their sexuality adapat to the gender of your character. Think of it as parallel universe. In a universe where your character is a male, Merill (for exemple) is heterosexual. In a universe where your Hawke is a woman, she's lesbian/bi. The only real bisexuals are Anders and Isabela I think. Anders says in Awakening he just want a pretty girl and blablah but he was also involved in a relationship with Karl.

4 potential LIs is a lot, depending on party size. For example if you've got 6 party members and 4 are potential LIs, that means 66.6% of the squad is romanceable.
