Now we need to discuss if Iron Bull will be available to both male and female Inquisitors.

I kid, I kid.  Where's that horse?  ;)

Sam should've been open to both genders...just like every LI in the 3 ME games should, and it's not even the most jarring exemple of a character being locked with little to no reason

I disagree here. I thought that Samantha was handled really well. I really liked, more than a lot of the female LI's that were open to my male Shepard, but I wouldn't have changed her, because that was part of who she was and it was brought up.

The only issue I have are with unequal number of options or all s/s only Li's being given NPC roles (Mass Effect 3 I can forgive as it was the first time including them at all).

The uneven numbers were damn annoying for sure.
For a company that brags about being LGBT-friendly ME3 was way too straight-males-orientied. Fem!Shep had only two complete male LIs and same the the gay male Shepard.
I think though it was a result which they couldn't avoid. All ME1 and ME2 they were making more LIs and most of them were interested in mae Shep. And when ME3 began they just understood the mess they made. And creating a bunch of new guys just for LI sake is a bad idea. So they made Samantha and Cortez. Changes Kaidan's sexuality... but butchered Thane and Jacob's ones. Yeah. I'm lucky I had Garrus but... why not Vega?

**** all this this noise.

Qunari players, mother****ers. I wonder how this will affect love interests in dragon age 3?

Now that's how you sweep aside a dead horse.

Well, it vastly increases the chance of at least one romancable Qunari, the player.

WOW  I really didn't think they would...

Kossith romances aren't just a vague possibility anymore, they will have to be handled.

This actually excites me quite a lot.

I'm talking about the game. Only Isabela, Anders and Leliana were bisexual.

I seriously wonder how my giant, ashen-skinned oxman is gonna kneel down to mack on my love interest, though. Maybe the Qunari will just... lift them up?

They can argue about that now.
Not interested in playing as a Qunari.
But congrats to those who wanted it.

Frankly I wouldn't care if they've changed her, since I don't play dudeshep, I just feel that her being bi wouldn't take anything at all from her romance

The way ME handled gay LI is the very definition of failure

Everyone but Sebastian was bi in DA2. In DA:O there were Zevran and Lelianna. That's canon

A group of writers, regardless of each writer's sexual orientation, can write a character of any orientation.

It depends on their ability, not their orientation.

A group of all lesbian writers could write a great straight male or female character.

And a group of all straight male writers could write a great lesbian or gay character.

So I really don't want to derail the thread from it's next logical direction:  qunari love interests.

However, I really am interested in hearing why you think this because I didn't think it was as bad as that.  Can you message me with your explanation?  I think it's fair to take this off line so as not to detract at all.

Thanks.

I am rock-hard for that idea. This is going to be amazing. Here's a question: are they going to modulate the Inquisitor's voice like they did for the Arishok in DA2? Make it nice and deep? I hope they do.

No. It was confirmed by Gaider himself. He said only Isabela, Anders and Leliana were bisexuals. The others were playersexual.
Not gonna repreat myself again.

Edit: i forgot Zevran.

We've already discussed this and you have admitted that there is no place where they have explicitly stated that Merril or Fenris are bisexual.  In every given playthrough they have a sexuality, but it can change between playthroughs, similar to how other story points can change on playthrough.  Until I see something from Bioware that states, very explicitly, that both are bisexual, I have no reason to think that their sexuality is any more "canon" than who is King of Orzammar.

That's a point, I can't imagine Qunari sharing the same voice as other races. Wonder if this means they'll go for separate voices for the races now. The inflection is different for Qunari too... okay maybe I should go find a voice thread!

I hope that any Quanri/Kossith/whateverwe'recallingthem romace wriggles its way into the other races as well. While adding Mysterious Qunari guy for female Kossith only is an intriguing idea if they are open to romantic love at all unlike regular Qunari I'd like to see the other races be able to explore that path as well.

This also means we will be seeing female Qunari, which is cool. Ach! I was so so sure I wanted to be an elf but this is really temting... I may have to do more than one playthrough.

I totally agree.  However, the writes do need to have an understanding about some of the issues around those sexualities in order not to make it cliche or stereotypical.  And it works both ways.  I've seen terrible gay themed movies with awful stereotypes of straight people and it is equally offensive when that happens.

Of course they can. But that doesn't mean they won't slip into a culturally-ingrained worldview now and then. I am not doubting the writer's ability and I'm not saying they have to have more LGBTQ writers. The Dragon Age team is a fine bunch as far as I know.
