I don't know all of the names, but I hope Cullen and Varric aren't love interests (especially if Varric vowed to never love again). Cullen I feel even if they mix his personality from DAO and DA2 I am afraid he would turn out like Anders, but on the other side. I know I could've compared him to Fenris, but I feel Anders was way more prejudiced and preachy.  Personally I would love a big strapping male Qunari of any class to be romanceable , i think he would be a bi option because if he was of the Qun this would be his first real foray into love. Females any is ok with me because I doubt I would ever romance them, other than maybe getting a trophy/achievement, I like playing characters that are gay, like me. What I know of Cassandra I think she would make a good bi/lez romance option because she does have a masculine air about her but not too masculine, kind of like a step down from Aveline.

I hope Varric is NOT a love interest. If he is he would likely lose his allure with a lot of fans! I would love to see how Cullen's personality unfolds,... how his negative experiences with both Mages and Templars impacts him in relation to the chaos in Thedas. My only worry for him as an LI, is like you identified.... he may be too broody like Fenirs and Anders/:wub:

All I want is a love interest who doesn't have a dark and traumatic past and when angry doesn't act violently towards me and glow blue.

In an ideal world there would be no romances. Just interesting characters written without a bad subplot that too many people on the internet care about.

You just don't get it.  *sarcastic eye roll*
S/he wants to have an interesting game that is interactive (RPG element) but not TOO interactive.  Gosh.

At any rate, I saw someone post how it would be cool to have an older LI, having gotten a taste with Samara.  I would be super happy if this came about because my one and only male Shep definitely had a thing for Samara- it was just a different kind of interesting.

Meh.  At this point, we know there will be romances.  It's
confirmed.  It's a staple in almost all Bioware RPGs (at least for the
past ten years).  The demand for romances clearly outweighs the demand
against them. It's not going anywhere, so I don't understand why people
come back to this argument.  What's the point of making a statement like this outside of throwing shade?

Cheers! And the support for an older LI grows. Make it so Bioware!

I support this as well.  I LOVED Samara in ME.  I definitely would have romanced her with my FemShep if given the option.

I'm not sure if there are any older female companions in DA: I, but the Grey Warden would possibly be able to fill this role for male LIs.

Nothing edgy at all. I just believe that the characters without a romance attached and dragging them down are usually far more interesting.

You could sort of romance her, it just wasn't as in depth as the other LI's. The Citadel DLC for ME3 added some stuff with her.

As others have said, I like to think that Cassandra is a safe bet as far as LIs go. (Then again, that might be the optimistic fangirl in me speaking.)

While I would give my right leg for Varric to be an LI...I kind of doubt it. What devs have said on topics concerning him as an LI gave me the impression that we will yet again be left high and dry when it comes to dwarf romancing. (But they have also denied race selection until the very last moment.)

If we go by the leaked survey (though obviously we don't know how much has changed about the characters since then), Sera seems like a reasonable choice for LI. I also think she sounds rather interesting, so I'd be down with that.

I agree with some other posters that an LI who is older than the Inquisitor (as in, everywhere from 5 to 15 years) would be very appealing as well. Maybe then we could have an LI whose main relationship conflict is not a tragic past, but rather a more common present problem. You know, a character that doesn't come with more baggage than usual but is still reluctant to enter a relationship with the main character. It'd be rather interesting, I think.

Inquisition takes place 12/14 years after Origins. In Origins Cullen was 24/25 which would makes him almost 40. I think that's old enough... What do you mean we don't know if he's a companion yet ? I can still hope, right ?

I don't know anything about the timeline, so I can't comment on Cullen's exact age, but he IS getting older.
In other words, Inquisition seems like the last chance to make him a companion and/or LI. Everything beyond 40 seems like a bit too old to appeal to the usual demographic of gamers, so....it's now or never, Bioware.

Do we know how old Cassandra is ? I'd say she's in her late twenties/ early thirties but I don't really know... I didn't pay much attention to Dawn of the Seeker (I watched it but..... ugh) and I didn't really did any research about her

Cassandra will be older than the inquisitor sure. She is 40 years old I think

Now this would be the right time for some of our lore/timeline experts to show up.

I can only guess at Cassandra's age based on her appearance. In Dawn of the Seeker (yes...ugh, indeed) she seems very young and inexperienced (though that may have been the effect of the anime-like style), so I'd place her around 20 - 23. Does Dawn of the Seeker take place before or after DA:O? Anyway, in DA2, she seems quite a bit older, maybe somewhere around 31 - 34. (But, again, the difference in style is so severe that it is nigh impossible to compare her appearance as relating to age.) Since Inquisition seems to take place either directly after DA2 or a year or two after that at the most, Cassandra should be in her mid-thirties (at least appearance-wise) by that time.
Though she did look pretty young in the Fires Above trailer.

*sigh* I can never seem to remember the DA timeline.

Actually (again), from what i read in the Cassandra's page in the wiki, DotS should be placed during or after DA2. SPOILER

At the end the Divine gave her the book she had in DA2, and talked about the possible war between mages and templars.
