also, alt-tabbing does occasionally crash the game for me. So avoid using it.

O.K. I am slighty disappointed with some aspects of the game. First of all I am really, really tired of how long it taked during the loading. When the game starts it is really fast, but after you play for about 20 minutes but then it can take up to 5 to 10 minutes. That is really annoying. Second I am a little disappointed in the spell tree for mages. Many of the spells in the tree are not even related. So its not like you are leveling up a spell you are just getting another spell that will most likely be more powerful, but not necessarily be related. I love the game play and the storyline though. I am really curious as to why it takes the website so long to update though. I uploaded to new characters on the first but they didn't get loaded on the website until yesterday, and I played the game all day yesterday while logged in and nothing on my character is updated.
Does your computer meet the min specs required? It almost sounds like you either have a slower computer, old drivers for your video card, a bad video card, etc etc. My load times are usually around a minute or two minutes at most. It runs amazing!

5-10 minutes is extremely excessive, and not something we encountered with our machines. I know that frequently alt-tabbing or putting the PC in locked mode, then going back into the game, sometimes caused longer load times, but nothing that was 5-10 minutes, and it was easily fixed by rebooting the game client.
Interesting, I certainly don't have load times of up to ten minutes but I have noticed some excessively long ones, but due to my habit of alt tabbing so much while I'm playing a game to do other things I'm wondering if this may be the reason why.
Thanks for the tip.

I played last night switching back and forth between WoW (raid night) without the excessive load times you mention. It sounds to be a personal hardware issue. My hardware:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz
6 GB DDR2-800
Nvidia 8800 GT 512MB

I was having a similar problem after several hours of play time. Eventualy load times would hit 4-6 minutes.
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33ghz
ATI Radeon HD 4850
4gigs DDR2 RAM
2xHitachi 500gig 7200 RPM HDD
Windows 7 x64
EDIT: To clarify, it took AT least 2 or 3 hours before the increase in load times became noticable.
Actualy, now that I think about it, I was having to share the computer and alt-tab periodicaly, so that may have been the problem.

While you are here, I don't understand Bioware's obsessions with loadscreens. You have this in NWN in 2002 but now in 2009 and you still have load screens? Come on, World of Warcraft is much bigger than your world and it doesn't have any load screen except when one moves to another continent. Why do you keep the loadscreen? Surely it is not for nostalgic reasons.

Screw the computer go PS3 or Xbox so you don't have to stay on top of the hardware..... XD
I could do that, but then I would spend a boat load more money, much more frequently for a system that is not even on the same level of operational abilities. Not to mention I like being able to do more with my computer than simply play games.
