Screw the computer go PS3 or Xbox so you don't have to stay on top of the hardware..... XD
I could do that, but then I would spend a boat load more money, much more frequently for a system that is not even on the same level of operational abilities. Not to mention I like being able to do more with my computer than simply play games.
Plus, the console interface isn't as good as the PC interface and you don't get to play user-made content. I can't imagine why anyone would chose the console version if they have a capable PC.

, and it was easily fixed by rebooting the game client.
But still that should not be needed? Programs should be able to withstand alt-tab, or even standby/sleep (and never should happen while just running!).
Since I've still some hours to go before my release, I'm just hoping I'm not affacted by this bug, which has now been reported several times.

Yeah your load times definitely has something to do with your hardware or maybe your vga drivers.

5-10 minutes is extremely excessive, and not something we encountered with our machines. I know that frequently alt-tabbing or putting the PC in locked mode, then going back into the game, sometimes caused longer load times, but nothing that was 5-10 minutes, and it was easily fixed by rebooting the game client.
The problem for me is that I often need to ALT+TAB to keep the internet connection for the game alive. If I don't then sometimes it just notifies me of a disconnection, while in fact my system is still online.
Also, back when I had to download the DLC there was no other way to keep the data from coming in. I had to ALT+TAB otherwise it would either hang or fail...
But it's good to know that this process also has some downsides. If I had known this was the cause of the longer loading times I would have eased down on that button combination.

I had long load time the first day I got the game. I tried full defragment and it remedied the issue almost completely. Don't use M$ defrag program, use Jkdefrag or MyDefrag instead.

I have a AMD 64 4500+, ATI X1950 pro 512mb AGP, WinXP SP3, and 4 GB (3.something DDR II 800 mhz
Runs smoothly, and load times are minimal (20 seconds, max)
I do not Alt-Tab out of the game at all.
I run the game in full screen mode, 1024 x 768
I would suggest putting your PC into a Clean Boot and just running the game and see if it still has long loading times.

Xbox version hasnt had a load more than 20 seconds yet, and thats after playing 9+ hours straight. And everyone knows how "outdated and poopy console hardware is".
Your out of your mind. PC will always be light years ahead of any console. You are aware that they write the code and programming for all those consoles on pcs right. Not to mention I will not need to spend an extra 500 buck every 2 years to buy the new one so I can play all the new games.

Just because I put quotes around something doesnt mean I tihnk its untrue. I knows its blatant fact that consoles have terribly outdated hardware, it just makes me lol that my inferior xbox loads the game so quickly even after a dozen hours of straight playtime. And PC will not always be lightyears ahead, when consoles are released theyre actually slightly ahead of the current best PC hardware. Besides, its more than likely the next generation of consoles will be upgradeable anyway, and will pretty much be "dumbed down" PCs.
As well, I bought my xbox for 300 dollars and its lasted me 3 and a half years now.
I daresay i bet I know more about PC and console hardware than you do anyway.

I start playing and loading times are ok. Then after about 40 min, loading times start to take a lot, even 5 min some of them.
If I close the game and restart it, it is fixed and takes only seconds again.
But it is damn annoying

When entering a house or such I am almost instantly there though.
Maybe the loading times for the large city areas could be optimized a bit for when you enter these? If its possible of course, I wouldnt know. Maybe it could remain in the memory when you enter a small building like a store or a tavern.

O.K. I am slighty disappointed with some aspects of the game. First of all I am really, really tired of how long it taked during the loading. When the game starts it is really fast, but after you play for about 20 minutes but then it can take up to 5 to 10 minutes. That is really annoying.
By the Maker! That is some C64 -class loading there!
