The otherthread got so off topic (political laws and miranda stripping) so I thought I would try to restart one that is actually ontopic for more than a page, can we do that?
We've seen the Kodiak dropship, the thing in the videos that drops you off on the planets surface, but we have not yet seen the Hammerhead to my knowledge.
Here is my theory on the Hammerhead and its useage vs. the Kodiak.
The Kodiak will generally see higher useage, itll drop you off on most N7 planets, it will not be piloted (confirmed)
The Hammerhead will be focused on a few missions that involve long distances but not nearly as much as ME1. This is wrong and not but I cant even imagine what they are doing with it, my real geuss is Bioware is making it a walker just to blow everyone's mind's
The Hammerhead?

I don't think it will be in the game. It was the worst part of ME1 anyway...

OXM only talked about the Kodiak, but they were the first review released and may still be under an NDA about some game features.
We won't really know until the game's in our hands. I'll kind of miss it.

Apparently there will be vehicle information this week. So I wouldn't rule out the hammerhead just yet.

Shinobi602: Taken from 360 Gamer magazine:
360 gamer have reviewed Mass Effect and some new details on planetary exploration.
-There are no exploration vehicles so Shepard will always be on foot.
-The story explanation is the increased size of the new Normandy makes it impossible for the drop offs that the original Normandy was capable of. The reviewer suggests it was less a story driven choice because sci fi can explain anything away and it was more than likely to appease fans of ME1 who complained about the Mako.
-A shuttle flys down and drops you off in a cutscene to explore on foot.
-There are many locations to explore but they are centralised to where you drop off, so even on huge planets your exploration area is smaller.
Dunno how reliable this source is but i feel not having the Mako/Hammerhead is definetly a bit of a downgrade, i actually thoroughly enjoyed the ideal of driving around in your own veichle on an uncharted world added to the open endedness and exploring aspect of the game, my only quip was, that there was nothing to do once you got out of the Mako, some of my favourite missions were in the mako when you were driving in Noveria and Feros :s

Its most likely not going to be in game. Theres no use for it with the Kodiak. It drops you off at a planets point of interest, so theres no reason to drive around a planet and explore.

I wont trust a 360mag just yet, I've read enough that I am certain there is one, and it will be relased this week. I have seen the quotes saying that there isnt one, and those quotes are actually worded in such a way that they are not certain and do leave an opening for Bioware to include one.
While the Mako was really quite bad, as were the planets it drove on, I would be sad to see it go.

Just makes you wonder if theres no need to drive from point A to point B exactly how big is this game anyway , they say its two discs , so is it two discs of improved action and thats it ...

More like they took all the memory that was taken up by these huge empty wastelands and used it for things that are worth having.
The reviews do say there's something like 30-50 of these little missions, which is a lot more then what ME1 had to offer, so personally I approve of the exchange. 20 Big Empty Areas with a Point of Interest each < 50 Points of Interest anyday.

360 Mag is OXM for another region. The same incorrect information could be present in both.
GI said that the Hammerhead was still in a month ago. Can't go by what the magazines say.

I was hoping that the new mako was going to be a hovercraft of some sort. Alas, it seems there's not even going to be a driving vehicle portion which I actually enjoyed. I liked shooting and zooming in with my scopes, and jumping all over the place. It was quite fun, but I do agree with most people that the barren planets were not very good and fighting thresher maws could be disastrously annoying.
My concern with all exploration done on foot is that there won't be as many planets to explore, the quality will increase but the quantity could be very very low, or the areas would be very very small defeating the purpose of exploration.
I am interested to see what they've done with this.

Actually looks like you get your vehicle, Bioware announced that the Hammerhead will be included with DLC missions later on!

I was really hoping for a free blow the hell out of everything vehicle, especially considering how at times the Mako felt like an insult to drive
. The Hammerhead sounded like a pretty nifty apology, may still be one but that depends on if we're paying for it or not. I didn't think their idea of fixing their vehicle was going to be ditching them outright (With the exception of flying the Normandy) for the early life of the game.

Everyone calm down.
1. The Hammerhead isnt initially in the game. It is going to be released as DLC soon after the game comes out.
2. It will be a hovertank of sorts and have wicked awesome power aka guns.
That is all.

I honestly don't want it. Drivable vehicles dont belong in ME

The Hammerhead is the second piece of DLC (the first being Zaeed the Mercenary). It is a drivable hover tank. How it'll be implemented into the game is beyond me.

I respectfully disagree. I tend to find most shooters (or RPG/Shooters like ME 1&2) grow stagnant to me with out any change in methods of transportation. I liked the concept of the mako but found it execution wanting. (it wasn't the worst vehicle controls I've encountered, GTA 3 era games get that award) With the tweaking that bioware has apparently done with controls and enviroments, I think it will be a welcome addition.Gambit One wrote...

I'm just upset that I currently can't DL it because I'm not currently hooked on to xbox live.

There is too a drivable vehicle in ME2 - the Normandy! You get direct control rather than just sending it to different planets like in ME1.

I hope there is also a way to upgrade the Hammerhead Tank and make it even more versatile
