It would be nice find one at least one damn organisation which are good guys not grey at best even mages despite many of them are guys who want just to be left alone one after another they changed into psychopaths in da 2.I hope at least they will paint Nevarra in way like ferelden not treated orlais or tevinter.
I think you miss the point of dark fantasy friend. High fantasy is where you get the clear lines of good and evil, those nice neat distinctions where there is an absolute measure of right and wrong. It's like Superman -> clearly good hero vs clearly evil villains. Dark fantasy you have bad guys and, at best, better guys, which is determined solely based on how their goals line up with yours. This is more like Batman, where he's not really good, but he's better, from the perspective of the law abiding citizens of Gotham, than the people he's beating up so that makes him a hero.
More simply High Fantasy deals in absolutes, Dark Fantasy deals in relativities.

I had not heard about Red Templars, but using red lyrium makes sense with that sort of name. Probably turns them all into Meredith-level crazy. Not looking good, but would that really keep you from getting the game?

I don't really care about the combat or playable races. I care about the story. ME3's was beyond attrocious and if that is what we're in for with DAI, there's not point in buying the game.

They are a group of Templars who have taken to using red lyrium and they're attacking a town for unknown reasons in the demo.
As others have said, it doesn't sound good.

Let me pose a question here. We know the Chantry controls the lyrium trade with the dwarves. Since the mages and the templars both have removed themselves from the Chantry, both sides have lost the main source of lyrium.
As mage supporters have been saying from the beginning, the templars are going to become quite fanatic in their desperation for lyrium. We've been preditcting from the beginning that they would rape and pillage across Thedas so they can get lyrium to stave off the effects of lyrium withdrawal. If the templars got a source of the insane red lyrium, why wouldn't they use it, and thus become the monsters they're often portrayed as? And I don't mean the good ones who stay out of the conflict, but the relgious zealots.
Also, note in that picture the mage in the foreground preparing to use blood maic. Without lyrium, not a complete necessity for casting spells, but is dang useful in augmenting magical powers and rituals, well, many mages will find themselves disadvantaged without it, but it can be easily replaced by blood magic, which is what Merrill does with the eluvian shard. No lyrium, so she turned to blood magic.
I highly suspect that the templars will be monsters in the game, but we will also see plenty of monstrous mages using blood magic from a lack of supply of lyrium, and then get addicted to the power it provides.
I think things will balance out a little.

Most of the people who support the templars are quite cynical in nature so, we have absolutely no trouble imagining situations where templars would commit "acts of evil". Temlars raiding a village for money to buy lyrium from the black market? Sure, I could see it.sandalisthemaker wrote...

But how about showing us something from the mage camp? Mages falling prey to demons and becoming Abominations? Libertarians or Resolutionists using a town as base of operations and taking liberties with the defenseless population? Anything at all?
Even the blood mage in the picture you posted seems to be using the old "I was forced into it" formula.
I wish Bioware would just throw us a bone.

I think the Red Templars could be related to a quest down into the deep roads, considering they seem to have a rock wraith. So it could be local, and they're calling them "Red Templars" to differentiate them.

Not with hundreds or even thousands of mages roaming freely and with the Divine having her agents murder templar recruits.

Edit: A scenario. A group of templar are getting heavy withdrawal syndrome. They are close to an entrance to the deep roads. They decide to try and find lyrium out of desperation. They find red lyrium and are driven crazy.
The Inquisition hear about roving templars attacking civilians and go to see what the fuss is about. They find the stone that is living beneath Orlais.

Because Knight-Commander Meredith turned into a bloody statue in front of all the Templars of Kirkwall?
I am hoping we're talking about an offshoot of the main templar forces who simply drunk it out of pure desperation. It could even be used to tell a tale of the sacrifices templars face in order to protect the people.
But I think it's more likely the leadership of the templars will be deliberately using it because it's much more powerful than regular lyrium ala Reaper implants.

So this is really going to ruin the game for you, huh. If this all plays out.
If they are intentionally using red lyrium, then damn. But I highly doubt they would portray the Templars as being so foolish. They probably don't know the full effects and unintentionally go insane. I'm even more curious now to see if the entire order has become like Cerberus.

Perhaps. But the distinction could be Red Templars= All those who left the Chantry.Considering they're deliberatly called "Red Templars" I doubt they're the main faction.
