I just wanted to confirm for other people that were wondering, that it IS POSSIBLE to get to Level 60 in your first two playthroughs. To clarify, I'm not talking about getting to level 60 in two playthroughs after you've already finished the game once. As you all know, the first time you play Mass Effect, you're capped to Level 50 -- but everytime after that, if you start a new character, you can exceed Level 50. So getting to level 60 in that situation is pretty easy: you can get to Level 50-55 with your first playthrough, then go from 55-60 in your second playthrough.
What I was scared of was using my FIRST EVER playthrough (capped at Level 50), and knowing if I could get the 10 levels needed to get to Level 60 in my 2nd playthrough. I didn't want to finish my 2nd playthrough at Level 59, and have to play a whole 3rd playthrough just to get to level 60 (and have to do all the sidequests again for importing to ME2).
Here are some notes on what I did:
- In my 2nd playthrough I had the experience bonuses from getting the Power Gamer & Completionist achievements
- I also finished and completed both DLC: Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station
- Completed every single sidequest, every single collection mission, opened every crate, killed every enemy
- Killed 99%+ of all enemies outside of the Mako, as you get a big XP bonus for that
We all know that the XP gap between Level 59 and Level 60 is HUGE -- it's more than half of a whole playthrough just for that one level. I was very scared I wasn't going to get there. However, by the time I left the Citadel for the last time and headed to Ilos, I was at 853,000 / 862,000 -- so I only needed 9,000 XP more at that point.
I ended up actually getting Level 60 just as I opened up the bunker door on Ilos. Yes!!!
Anyways, just wanted to confirm that this was possible on your first two playthroughs (not just any two playthroughs) -- so I hope this helps somebody out there in preparation for Mass Effect 2.
