Here's my dilemma; I just finished my 2nd ME1 playthrough on Hardcore, but I stopped at lvl 58. When I tried to import him to another NG+, he went back to the level he first beat the game at, which was 44. How do I get to level 60 now?

Are you sure you imported the correct save?

If not then I would try again.

If you did, I might reload that second play through if you have a save near the end of the game and beat it again to try to regenerated the game complete save.

It was weird; when I went to a new game and hit "Select Existing ID", it gave me 2 options, and both were my Soldier maleShep at level 44. It didn't give me an option to import my new lvl 58 Shep, which is the same Shepard in the same career, only now he's at level 58.

play the last misson then try agan :alien:

Nope, you didn't get to 69 with three playthroughs.  Level 60 is the hard cap.  As for getting to 79 in ME2, it resets your level and hard caps at 30.

Of course, I finished a playthrough on veteran. All I did was Eden Prime, Feros, Noveria, Liara's dig site, Virmire, and Ilos. In short, I did absolutely no sidequests and I got to level 32. I'm sure I could get to 60 if you did everything on the second playthrough, right?

No. the XP to go from 50-60 is more than it took to go from 1-50.

Maybe with ALL XP bonuses and doing everything in the game you might hit 56 or 57

On the last mission, in the corridor just before the part with the AA guns, there is a ciorridore where the enemies will respawn several times (I think it is about 12 times).

So if you are needing some XP, just sit at the beginning of the corridotre and let the enemies respawn until they stip coming. I think it is worth a maybe about 4k XP.

I alos think the respawn in the coorridore before the final open area with the rocket towers.

So take advantage of that if you are wanting tmaximise XP.

In one playthough I got from level 49 to 60. So it is certainly possible. But you have to do everything the OP says.

Plus you have to do every side mission even if they are not necessary.

I did exactly what you did, I'm on the citadel now and I'm level 55. As in, I'm outside of the citadel, so to speak.

There are a couple of places with unlimited respawns, but you'll be waiting 'till judgement day if you try to get to level 60 like that.

There are no places with unlimited respawns. They all stop eventually.

I'm guessing that something's gone wrong with my second ME1 playthrough then 'cos I just got capped at lvl 50 right before Virmire, despite having unlocked the 'Medal of Honor' Achievement on my previous (first) PT. I also unlocked the 'Completionist' and 'Power Gamer' Achievements on the same PT so I'm assuming my XP rewards are increased by 15% (hence why I've hit the cap so much earlier). I thought I would be able to progress to lvl 51+ this time (so spec'd my squadies accordingly) but I'm no longer showing any XP scores in my character screens. If it's relevant, this is a new Shepard starting from scratch rather than an import of my first ME1 Shepard but I'm assuming from the title of this thread that shouldn't be relevant?

Or something's up with your game. Just been reading about the two LI confrontation problems you've had as well and AFAIK neither of those should happen. Sounds like a similar pair of playthroughs to my first two and I had no problem getting the argument and going beyond level 50 (though I finished 80k points short of level 60 from taking too many short cuts - d'oh).

You could be right; for various reasons, when I started this new FemShep I didn't have my final Save Game (Char_01-50-x-x-x-x-x-xxxx-xxx-xx.MassEffectSave) or the Profile info file (Profile.MassEffectProfile) from my first Shepard in the Save folder so it was only after a few hours playing (perhaps around Palaven?) that I noticed I didn't have all the Achievements displaying that I should have. Although I put the files back - at which point all my unlocked Achievements displayed correctly (and as I say, I assume I'm get the XP bonuses) perhaps something is locked into my current game that thinks it's a first PT rather than second? I guess I'll find out if I get the 'Long Service Medal' Achievement when I finish this current game. (I was expecting to get it but now I'm beginning to have my doubts.)

UPDATE: I finished the game last night and I *did* get the 'Long Service Medal' Achievement for two complete playthroughs; still not sure why I got capped at lvl 50 though.

It possibly determines your level cap at the time you create your shepard, which in your case was when you did not have the achievement unlocked for opening up level 60 (due to missing profile file).

My question: Everyone talks about doing a complete run through for the first game and getting to 57-58 and then doing the "bare minimum" (ie whatever quests that effect ME2/3 and enough experience) to reach 60 in the second.

What about if you were going to do the bare minimum in the first run that will enable you to hit 60 in a completionist 2nd run. I'm assuming, from most comments that anything above L50 in the first game will enable you to hit 60 in a complete 2nd run?

That said, do you think going through the first game doing all the citadel quests and then only the main story will get you above 50? (All achievements unlocked)

I'm pretty certain that I'm not going to make 60 before the end of the game...that is, unless I open up the console. I just got to 59 and I don't have much left.

demos99, I had the exact same problem when I attempted to level a new Shepard. I have a hunch that it had something to do with me leveling him up 20 or so levels on Therum using the save glitch. Once I hit 50, the game capped me, however I've LONG since had the achievements. I have to suspect this because this was the first time I ever used the glitch. I've played through the game about 4 time after completing it for the first time, fully, and have never had this problem.

I restarted the game with my 54th level Shepard and even using the Therum glitch, haven't had any trouble leveling.

Like a lot of other people here, I've been replaying Mass Effect to get a character ready for importing into Mass Effect 2. This playthrough was done to make sure I made all the right decisions, killed off the right people, and got to Level 60.

I just wanted to confirm for other people that were wondering, that it IS POSSIBLE to get to Level 60 in your first two playthroughs. To clarify, I'm not talking about getting to level 60 in two playthroughs after you've already finished the game once. As you all know, the first time you play Mass Effect, you're capped to Level 50 -- but everytime after that, if you start a new character, you can exceed Level 50. So getting to level 60 in that situation is pretty easy: you can get to Level 50-55 with your first playthrough, then go from 55-60 in your second playthrough.

What I was scared of was using my FIRST EVER playthrough (capped at Level 50), and knowing if I could get the 10 levels needed to get to Level 60 in my 2nd playthrough. I didn't want to finish my 2nd playthrough at Level 59, and have to play a whole 3rd playthrough just to get to level 60 (and have to do all the sidequests again for importing to ME2).

Here are some notes on what I did:

- In my 2nd playthrough I had the experience bonuses from getting the Power Gamer & Completionist achievements
- I also finished and completed both DLC: Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station
- Completed every single sidequest, every single collection mission, opened every crate, killed every enemy
- Killed 99%+ of all enemies outside of the Mako, as you get a big XP bonus for that

We all know that the XP gap between Level 59 and Level 60 is HUGE -- it's more than half of a whole playthrough just for that one level. I was very scared I wasn't going to get there. However, by the time I left the Citadel for the last time and headed to Ilos, I was at 853,000 / 862,000 -- so I only needed 9,000 XP more at that point.

I ended up actually getting Level 60 just as I opened up the bunker door on Ilos. Yes!!!

Anyways, just wanted to confirm that this was possible on your first two playthroughs (not just any two playthroughs) -- so I hope this helps somebody out there in preparation for Mass Effect 2. :wizard:

Sorry for digging out such an old thread but i wanted to give my insight since ME1 came out on PS3 few weeks ago.
I can confirm all the OP words , i almost completed the 2nd of my very first playthroughs (actually i just finished Virmire) , and i got 858000 XP so i just need 4000 more to get the mighty lvl 60. As the OP said i did absolutely everything and i noticed that killing stuff out of the mako is the most mandatory thing to stick with (1000 XP per heavy turret for example)

Just to revive a Dinosaur that's still not dead even though some might think so...(playing PC version here, btw.)

Regarding 1st time Playthrough (when you cap at 50), i hit it as i was doing my regular run-around on Altahe gathering Resources and the likes. Beforehand i was killing everything possible outside the Mako, yet didn't kill when it wasn't "ethically" necessary (for example, using Paragon Option to get a peaceful result with Major Kyle, then proceed to kill the Biotics. Not my style). Also, neither of the known Infinite Experience Glitches were used.

That left me with 2 more Systems to scout in that cluster, plus leftover Quests on the Citadel, BdtS DLC,Virmire, Ilos and Citadel End Fights (never owned Pinnacle Station). Which you might want to do anyways since the money bonuses help getting all your Spectre X gear bought and distributed among your Squadmates. Not to mention the occasional special Armor, though i didn't get lucky and had to end my 1st playthrough with a measly Titan IX Armor, whereas Tali ran around in Colossus X, Wrex in Battlemaster X and Garrus in Phantom X.

Anyways, onto 2nd Playthrough, this time with Tali and Garrus (first was Ashley and Kaidan - R.I.P. Mr. K, sorry, if you don't want no threesome with Liara and me, you're out. Period > :D ). Who would've thought these two bickering beauties would make out in ME 3 :P

Update:

I've run through every non-essential Sidequest and collection possible prior to doing any of the Main missions (no Mako kills whatsoever). Doing so got me to 504458 Exp at Level 57. The only Quests left now are Prothean Data Disc Collection (shy 1 Disc for completion), as well as the main Missions on Therum, Feros and Noveria, plus the extra Clusters / Planets / Sidequests that unveil once you complete Feros / Noveria. Then we still got Bring down the Sky DLC to do as well as Virmire, final Citadel Quests, Ilos and Citadel Endfights.

Level 60 i'll see you soon :D Will update again when exactly i'll hit it :)

Update:

Going through Therum, Feros (plus Maroon Sea Quests) and Noveria (plus Styx Theta Quests plus Argos Rho's Gorgon System Mission) currently leaves me at 774998 Exp at Level 59. I didn't kill the 2 extra Guards that were in Synthetic Insight's office on Noveria for the maximum Experience gain, but that shouldn't make much of a difference in the end.

Regarding earlier update:

I forgot one Planet Scan in Feros's System, getting me the last Prothean Disc needed for completion. So that means all Collection Quests are doable before the Main missions, everything after is just bonus. And i finally got me my Colossus X Light Armor for my Engineer. 'Bout durned time....alright, off to fetch me the remaining 87102 Exp til 60, and even without the DLC that should be easy, but considering you get that for free these days download wise (http://help.ea.com/e...dlc-redemption/) without needing any Verification code...yeah.

Final Update:

Level 60 just before entering Saren's Base on Virmire, one Krogan at the entrance was my last kill. Bring down the Sky DLC was worth 49659 Experience points, so that helped along the way nicely. Again - everything killed on foot,.Alright, taking a break from ME for a bit, 'til like...tomorrow or so :)

One final thing: i did use the Infinite Paragon Glitch on Eletania to unlock the Morality based Systems / Missions faster, but aside of that no "cheats" were used at all.

Hello,

I have a few questions:

1. In some missions ore sidequest you can decide to start a fight or not. When you start it you get extra exp for killing them, but I don't want to do that. So are this exp nessesary or are their more than enough to reach lvl 60?

2. Is there a map with all location of the boxes which give you exp for decrypt them?

3 When does people give you exp when you talk to them?
