I would imagine that the Hawke siblings face morph, would be a stumbling block for them to appear. Which is why Charade would have made a more appealing propersition to be turned into a companion.Angrywolves wrote...
True.
I wonder though if Bioware felt tempted to bring back another old fav character to spur enthusiasm .
Varric doesn't do it for me.
While ok, I wasn't enamored of him and would have been happy without him in DAI.
Bethany from DA2, who I felt was underutilzed/underdeveloped in DA2 would have been nice.
Nathaniel Howe from Awakenings would have been nice.
Maybe Bioware is trying to stay away from using previous game characters for the most part in keeping with this new IP game reborn nonsense Frank Gibeau.
All new characters except for Cassandra and Varric I guess is something we can live with.
Nine companions confirmed!

I'll be honest, whomever Bioware creates as a line-up of companions they will all pale in comparison to their A-Team, the original companion line-up in Origins. Whether or not you liked 2's party, Origins' was beyond perfect. I hate how people talk so fondly of companions from 2 or refer to them as if they were the best ever. I've played all the installments of the series. I don't think any new companions will impress me. 2's companions felt all too cliche and cookie-cutter like knock-offs from ME's cast. Merril was almost like a Tali. Anders was like Kaidan. Varric like Garrus. Isabela like Miranda. Aveline like Samara.
Completely disagree...each of your comparisons are totally different characters.
Tali and Merrill may both be 'poster girls' of their respective peoples, but as far as personality goes they are completely different. Tali is a by the book type who respects Galactic (and Quarian) law and safety, willing to put her people and others first. Merrill is completely obsessed with the Eluvian no matter who it kills and really seems more self-absorbed.
Aveline has a sense of humor (even if it's more dry than outright comical) and isn't afraid to get dirty in order to uphold the law. Samara on the other hand puts her code before EVERYTHING, even if it goes against reasonable morality. The two just are different in all senses of the word.
Kaidan is closer to Alistair than Anders. Anders is a selfish whinebot who is more interested in his own motives. Even romanced Anders is willing to emotionally blackmail Hawke (and seems to only like Hawke if he or she agrees with his views). Kaidan on the other hand is willing to disagree with Shepard and accepts Shepard for who he or she stands for, even if there are rough patches. Anders isn't so willing to do the same. Plus Kaidan doesn't resort to blowing up buildings or demonizing people.
Isabela and Miranda only share physical appeal, nothing more. Miranda is a genetically engineered perfect woman who works with authority. Isabela is a free-wheeling rogue who could care less about authority. In fact, Isabela could have some loose comparisons to Jack (without the psychopathy) more than Miranda.
And Origins' party was *not* perfect. Sten is probably one of the most boring characters ever concieved (in my opinion). Oghren is tacked on more out of the Deep Roads. Alistair resembles BioWare's cookie cutter whiny human male leads (albeit with a great romance path and some charm).
I happened to like Dragon Age 2's party members better. Aveline is thus my favorite party member in Dragon Age in general, and she and Isabela's banter are some of the best lines recorded. Varric is the much needed bro Origins' sorely lacked. Fenris, Sebastian and Anders are different tastes, but I did like Fenris (brooding attitude and all) and Sebastian, was a nice calm addition to a crew of polarized party members. Anders was good at being hated in my case, as he knew to hit all the wrong spots in his dialogue and just about everything. Merrill I will leave to discretion, but I didn't care for her all that much.
Again all my opinion, but people who are questioning those who liked DA2's party better and why can at least have an opinion from one person who feels that way.

Geez. Unless Leliana is a companion, I fear this game might be a sausage fest.

I'm personally crossing my fingers for chill mcSmugs though. His expression alone has convinced me that he should be on my team.

Many people are saying the short-haired guy is Cullen. Maybe. It's hard to say for sure.
With the blurry pictures I thought the guy way way too old to be Cullen. But now I think it really looks A LOT like him.

I really don't see it- but the Cullen fans look at his face a lot more than I do so I'll take their word on it.

Yeah, I think that's Cullen. My guess for him is either agent or a companion, but out of that picture I'm guessing only one or two more people are companions so it's all speculation

There are 4 warriors hinted at in concept art and tweeting (including 1 confirmed,), 3 rogues, 3 mages
So for the warrior it comes down to being between Iron Bull and Cullen, if there will be even numbers of classes.
Which makes 3 women (Cass, Vivi, Sera) and 6 men ( either Cullen or Iron Bull, Dorian, Warden, Varric, Elf mage man seen in some concept art, elf rogue man seen in some concept art (although I think this may be a woman....)
This is assuming that the Iron Bull is a warrior and not a rogue of course, but then we would have another female warrior to balance that out, and there has been no evidence for another female warrior as of yet.
So I'm *fairly* sure it's 3 women and 6 men, although the dual wield elf may be female, which would bring it to a happy 4 women, 5 men.

The tanned/dark skinned woman is probably Vivienne
Cassandra and Varric are self explanatory
Stroud and Cullen are to the left of the Inquisitor
Male elf has yet to be revealed

Gaider has confirmed the scribe is not Vivienne. Also, I doubt Leliana would wear something as common, especially since she's back in Orlais and so close to the Divine.

Remember Leliana also went common in Ferelden to 'get away' and she could merely be in disguise. The face and hair look exactly like her.
As for being my wrong about Vivienne, they're probably trying to keep her appearance under wraps since she was recently revealed as a companion for some reason.
Can't wait to find out who's who though.

What do you mean??? Shes in all the videos, and there's even a screenshot. We now she's got a big fancy hat and facepaint (or possibly a mask).
