Not my cup of tea though.
I think the redesigned darkspawn in DAI will be uglier and meaner looking than previous ones.
I feel certain Leliana will not be a party member .
Leliana is dedicated to the chantry.
While there are indications Cassandra's wavering a bit.
Under certain scenarios the Inquisitor might decide it's best to throw out the current chantry leadership, change the chantry in some fashion, or abolish it altogether.
The Inquisitor may even have to kill Leliana .
So she can't be a companion .
shrugs.

And what would be her personal learning experience? She already decided that non-Golems were okay and that she would like become a Dwarf. And she hasn't even accomplished that yet.Janus198 wrote...
Yes i don´t doubt that. He was a bad example as companion. I should have picked Shale then.
Would we help her overcome her fear of pigeons?
If she had accomplished being a Dwarf, I could see something. But she's supposed to be in Tevinter for that, not Orlais.

Simple. Her experience to be mortal. She would be act completely different then in Origins. Shale is vulnerableTaleroth wrote...

and see the world with new flesh eyes. Yes i would like if Shale makes a return as companion.
But you give me only story arguments against DAO companions. But what´s about the selling point of view?
Many players (not only the Fans) were disappointed by DA 2 and wish that DA:I would be like Origins.
And Bioware give them this Origins feeling back. You can chose your race again and you can also zoom out.
But is that enough Fanservice? I don´t think so. A return of Origins companion is a strong selling argument.
Edit: Therefore i can answer the question why is Varric back?
Because of Fanservice. Everyone likes or love Varric. Nobody really hates him.
You can call him a mousetrap. It works for me. My first comment was: Awesome. Shut up and take my money.

They 're using Morrigan who was the poster child of DA:O...
Morrigan is way more popular than Leliana ,taht's why she was in the trailer and she's going to be an important Npc.
That's enough , Imho .

Having a returning companion from Origins does not make it into Origins. Two companions from Awakening return to 2. And a ton of other companions had appearances. We don't need that again.

I´m not sure if Morrigan is really that popular. Another poster says Leliana or Alistair is more popular than Morrigan.Reznore57 wrote...

Sorry but in BSN i talk carefuly about this. But i can say that Morrigan, Leliana and Alistair are the most beloved companions.
And I am not really convinced thats enough. I would this guy. But average gamer like John Doe or Jane Doe
buy this game? They need more arguments that DA:I would so good as DAO.

I'd say Leliana must be popular enough, otherwise why the hell did she get a DLC about her story and not other companions?
I'd say all the LI in DAO are the most popular.

No they haven´t do that. But on the other hand GameInformer saw evidence that a redheaded orlaisianChanda wrote...

That´s a good point. And don´t forget she appears in DA 2 three times. Basegame and in 2 DLCsDarkKnightHolmes wrote...

Last but not least she plays a role in Asunder.

That wasn't the only thing since a little while after that Gaider commented on Leliana returning but didn't get much more specific than agent of the divine and might have a say in what you do.
Another character who may be set to re-enter the Dragon Age ring? The redheaded, religious bard Leliana. “We’ve been building Leliana up to essentially act as an agent to the divine,” Laidlaw says. “I think it would be fair to expect that she might have some say, especially given her appearance at the end of Dragon Age II.
But beyond that, mum’s the word.” Leliana has always represented faith and spirituality, often testing belief and being a way to question players about how they feel about the Maker. “As far as I can tell, if you look among our fans, people have a lot of strong opinions on [the Maker],” Gaider says. “It’s a good place to go

Well, they were one of the main selling point of DAO and anyone who's touched a Dragon Age game knows about them.

We already have a pro-chantry character with Cassandra, Leliana will probably be a major NPC who works for the Divine.
I agree with you and didn't say she was going to be a companion in fact I said she's unlikely to be one a few posts ago, just posting the article that had some more information on what her possible role could be.

If Leliana is an agent for the Divine, and at the end of Dragon Age 2 it showed that Cassandra was working under Leliana, then it would make sense for Cassandra to be there in the party as a sub-agent of the Divine to keep an eye on things. So Cassandra is our Chantry party member. And that still leaves things open for Cullen to be the Templar-sided party member. (For those who are saying that Cullen can't be a party member because he and Cassandra are too alike in their Chantry views.)
The Inquisition is set up in oposition to the chantry and that Cassandra may have changed her position by Inquisition.
I am sure she will still be Chantry supporting but I don't think she will be working for them or answering to them,
You are right about Cullun though.

I agree.
I don't really think that Cassandra will represent the Templars much in any way. It seems she has other issues on her plate and also has the whole dragon hunter thing going on. Cullen as a templar companion really wouldn't seem a duplicate Cassandra to me in any way.
Alnd their personalities are very different. Cassandra seems headstrong and "do whatever it takes" kind of character. She is willing to leave the village to defend the keep while Cullen seems more of a "defend the weak" type character who wouldn't just leave the villagers to fend for themselves.
