Ok. But when the game needs another archer to Varric. I really don´t think that Varric can use bows.
Maybe a DLC like Sebastian for DA 2 can handle this problem but Leliana as this female archer from
the Grey Warden picture can also be possible.

Well, Dorian's description was that he isn't what's expected from a Tevinter magister.  He's exiled in the first place because he wants to reform the negative aspects of his country.  Considering the last GI article went into how the companions are supposed to be a departure from the negative extreme viewpoints of DA2, a Tevinter magister that isn't Darth Vader would fit.  If he's still a companion, he may have changed, but I hope not too much.

Sera appeared to be using a bow in the recent gameplay video though. I have a feeling the unnamed survey guy with the suspiciously Orlesian facial hair is the dagger rogue.

Well, pics like that certain makes it seem like she will be a companion after all. Interesting. As for the Emperor arrives vibe, who said the Inquisition are a bunch of goody two shoes? If DA:O is any indication, you can play quite the evil character.

I don't remember if it was already mentioned, but in the concept with the Pride demon, the companion to the PC's right seems to be the male bald elf in one of the GI concept art. I initiall thought his weapon was a sword, but it seems more like a staff.

what is this concept art you speak of? I'm curious.

All the screengrabs I could find.  Definitely provides evidence for a female elf rogue, "Sera."  Blonde in one image, brunette in the two recent ones, and green-haired in the pre-alpha build footage.  Also threw in a few confirming shots of the Grey Warden character.

I wonder if the chin-stroking guy at the back is our Tevinter magister, 'Dorian'?  Assuming there is one at all, it could either be him or the guy with the dramatic hands on head gesture.  But if you look at the 'media' picture on  dragonage.com, the chin-stroker seems a likely candidate for the man on the right hand side of the party.

No, that guy is clearly orlesian.

I'm guessing also Sexyback (the qunari), the bearded warden, Sera/Elf

Which means that we already have 3 humans in our team. A while ago they talked about Dorian, a Tevinter mage, who's also a human. Apparently Cullen seems to be a good guess for a companion too... at leats I hope so ... a lot of humans... Maybe they'll change Dorian into an elf since he wasn't officially announced.

Yes, it does look like the guy on the right of the party in the Media art is holding a staff.

She could be both, for all we know. Maybe our companions aren't tied to one weapons any more. Except, perhaps, Varric. Or maybe they still are, I dunno. I don't care if they are, but having more options would be nice.

I'm guessing the 9 they have confirmed, will all come with the base game. So following Bioware's recent pattern (1 for Origins, 1 for DA2, 2 for ME2, and one for ME3). Then I would say the chance's of ending up with 10, possibly even 11 companions through dlc, isn't unlikely.

I love that pic... I want the same thing epic happening in my game. ( with the same cape slapped by the wind ) I want to feel like I'm The Emperor.

If Dorian is the fluffy mage guy in the picture up there and the guy in the 'media' picture on dragonage.com, then he's already an elf.  In the full version of the picture above, he has pointy ears.  And in the 'media' picture you can kinda see the ears, and he's noticably smaller than the humans on the team.

I'm just estatic that I get to play the other races again and I hope our background story plays out like the original DA:O with a start and setting the stage for later encounters in the game.

Companions I prefer to be surprised my last play through of DA2 I used Isabella more than Varric loved her witty comments to the Guard Captain. An Since my guy was a Spirit Healer I rarely used Anders at all <never really liked him even in DO:A> my usual team setup in DA2 was Avelyn, Merril, Isabella or Fenris. I love Merrill she's my favorite character.

Varric - male dwarf ranged rogue
Cassandra - female human two-handed fighter
Vivienne - female human mage

We can assume from footage:

Sera (?) - female elf dual wield (or is she an archer?) rogue
Bearded Gray Warden - male human sword/shield fighter

Speculation from survey (which is dubious):

Iron Bull - male qunari (warrior?)
Dorian - male (unkown race) mage?
Scribe Girl - female (human?) (class?)  (Frankly, I also think she's not a companion.  I also think she'll be Kelly Chambers/Samantha Traynor part three.  However, she is in the map stabby picture, so who knows?)
Cole - male (race?) (class?) (We haven't heard anything about him for a while, so I'm not sure if he's still in the running)

Other speculation:

Cullen - male human (sword and shield?) warrior (why do we think he's in?)
Leliana - female human ranged rogue (I think it's doubtful she's in as a companion. I expect her to play a role similar to Morrigan who is already confirmed as a non-companion)


Am I missing anything? I tried to be as objective as possible.

There are not any background stories. Nothing to play through. All the races will start at the same place.
