Also, who can we identify in this picture so far (from left):

Cassandra, unknown facial hair human guy, unknown warrior human guy, Inquisitor, pensive (elf?) mage, Scribe Lady, and Varric

Could either of the unknown humans be the Gray Warden?  Neither look like him.  The one on the left isn't dressed like him from the footage and the one on the right doesn't have his awesome facial hair.

Cullen was also in the survey, and Greg Ellis posted over a year ago about VO recording for Cullen, which is why people speculate that he's a companion.

I can't remember. Was Cullen named in the survey was there just a picture of a guy who looked like him. I'm not sure where that original information is or I would look myself. Thanks.

Rumoured left to right: Cass, trident guy, Cullen, Inquisitor, Dorian, Scribe girl, and Varric.

Nine, that's a lot, but am sure there will be a day 1 dlc companion as well. The last few BioWare games, that is what day one has been

Betting it now. Cullen, Sera, Grey Warden, Dorian, Iron Bull and (possibly) Cole to all be companions

I really love speculating about companions. It's one of my favorite parts of the build up to a Bioware game release.

So I think it's interesting that none of the "new" characters that we have good evidence to suggest they are companions (Vivenne, who's confirmed, and Sera/Gray Warden Guy, who are pretty much a given with the provided footage) are in the map stabby picture.

Even when we know her name I may have to keep calling her "scribe girl". It has a ring to it.

Worth mentioning: David Gaider heavily implied that at least one character from the survey is no longer in the game.

Well from the six characters from the survey concept art, we've seen footage of Sera and the Grey Warden (just realized I've using the American spelling of "gray" this whole time, oops.). We've also seen "Scribe Girl!" in other places in the concept art. We haven't heard or seen the "trident guy" elsewhere.

Of course, I agree with an earlier poster, that it's likely referring to Cole, who we've read about in the survey, but not since nor has he shown up in concept art anywhere that we know of. Of course, I've never read the book he was in, so I'm not sure if he could be the trident guy or the mage (which might be "Dorian")

I agree it's likely Cole. An invisible spirit who uses blood magic to make others forget them and stabs people would be a difficult companion to implement.

The leaked survey pretty clearly said Cole was a Rogue. And the survey is the only real evidence that he might be in the game

Since there has been at least one elf romance option in both games, I'd say it's likely to happen again.  The REAL question for me is the question if I can finally get some dwarf on dwarf action!  No one can resist the dwarf!

Wild ass crazy speculation idea here. Totally out of no where. But, wouldn't it be neat if the Elf bald mage guy was a descendent of Sharatan?

I'm really hoping Cole and Dorian aren't cut. Especially Cole. They would make for such interesting characters. A half-crazy ghost and a Tevinter magister (possibly with slaves and blood magic) seem so much cooler than an elven rogue girl (Zevran, I love you, but we don't need any more shallow Rogues after you and Isabela) and Cullen.
I think Sera would essentially be Isabela mark 2, and Cullen could be Alistair mark 2 as well.
I always held a fascination with Tevinter whenever Fenris told me about it. I think that Tevinter could be the darkest, most badass place in Thedas, and I would love to see someone from the other side of Fenris' perspective (whoo blood magic).
As for Cole... well... he's probably on my top 3 list of Dragon Age characters. I can't express how gleeful it would make me to bring Cole home from a mission and have the self-righteous party members get mad at me for it. Plus, his story seems far from finished after Asunder.

I'm really liking the look of that elf. Kinda hoping she's the I'm Just Here For Treasure/Experience/Whatever But Have Deeper Reasons character.

Cullen looks surprising calm in there. Maybe he's the voice of reasons in this game. Imagine that.
