1. Cassandra
2. The Grey Warden
3. Qunari/ Tal Vashoth named Iron Bull?
4. Cullen
Rogues
5. Varric
6. Sera/Dalish Girl
7. Fancy Facial Hair Guy
Mages:
8. Vivienne
9. Magister Dorian Pavus (Male Bald Elf)
10. Day 1 DLC Character
---
I'll take your Leliana and replace her with fancy facial hair Guy. Plus, I seriously doubt Cole is a companion. However, he might show up in the story as a NPC.

I'm seriously hoping that the ten we've seen so far are the real ten, with one of them (guessing Iron Bull) being the DLC companion. From the looks of things, if anyone of them was cut it was probably Cole. And that would break my heart
Another Cole fan!! Whoopeee! So I'm not crazy! We are too scarce, my friend! There ought to be a lot more Cole-love going on in this world. Like, a banner, or something.

That was my thought, too.ZodiacLullaby wrote...
Plus, I also think it will be even, 3 per class.
One of the big complaints people had about DA2 was that if you didn't like a character with a unique and desirable skillset, you had to play that specialization yourself or do without. Having three characters per class, two with iconic skillsets like Varric's archery and one with a customizable build, would enable players to build their team in ways that would make the most of their playing style and their preferences.

Sorry. But for me at least one Origins companion will return. It doesn´t matter who it is.Jessabeth wrote...
I don't see Leliana being a companion again. There are enough people upset that she survived (through divine intervention). lol. I figure she'll be like Morrigan and just be an important character.
Leliana, Morrigan (out off the ring), Sten, Alistair (unlikely), Wynne (dead), Dog (also dead?), Zevran or Oghren.
I would prefer a dwarf Shale over 1000 Lelianas but it hasn´t this sale effect like Leliana makes a return as companion. Serious this a powerful sale argument for DA:I especially if the audience
really like Origins and hate DA 2.
"Dammit i don´t want to buy another Dragon Age game but if Leliana returns i make an exception"
And i know a lot of this players.

i must be the only one who was hoping for evangeline as a companion. would have loved the whole spirit warrior/templar thing... but yeah... sounds less and less likely to happen if we're already getting cassandra and (maybe?) cullen. we'd have too many templar affiliated characters.Cheese Time wrote...

Here is my take on the roster, based more on what we've actually been seeing/hearing than the survey:
Warriors:
1. Cassandra- probably an LI as well (We still have yet to see a female warrior LI!)
2. Grey Warden Commander
3. Oxman- (No idea if he's iron bull or a different charcter, but we've seen to much of him for him to not be a companion)
Rogues:
4. Varric
5. Female Elf rogue- likely the second female LI, maybe Sera but we've seen several different designs. In-game footage was too blurry to make out appearance but was possibly her.
Mages:
6. Vivienne
7. Elf Mage we have seen in several concept arts. Doesn't look Dalish. Only unknown character in the war room concept who seems to appear in party-exploration concepts as well.
I have no idea about the last two at all. I'm sure that one is male LI. The other is probably female or our team will be very gender-imbalanced.

I don't think any of them will return as companions. I don't believe that a companion will sway someone's choice in buying the game if they weren't all that interested in DAI. I just think companions are a small part in comparison to the rest of the game. lol
I think with two Origins companions coming in with big story roles, it becomes unnecessary to add anyone as a companion.

You underestimate it. Take the wonderful Tali Trailer for ME 2. For me that was at the moment when i really want this game. Therefore i had preordered it.Jessabeth wrote...

And why is Varric back? For me it is primarily Fanservice. He was a full companion for a full game. Awakening was only an Addon. So i don´t count Anders. So why is he returning? Or should i better asks there is the Fanservice for the Origins Fans?I think with two Origins companions coming in with big story roles, it becomes unnecessary to add anyone as a companion.

3 girls, 6 boys? Doesn't that seem a bit unbalanced? DA2 had fairly equal numbers, I would like to see that continue :/
I agree. I prefer female companions so any less than 4 females would be very disappointing (Varic being the fifth guy would be okay because I liked him quite a bit and would like to see his interactions with Cassandra).

But you didn't hate the rest of the game, I'm assuming? You held interest in the game itself first? While Tali may have swayed your decision some, I'm near positive that she wasn't the sole reason you bought the game.
Varric, if you'll note, isn't an Origins character. So it wouldn't really make sense to mention him when talking about Origins characters.
He is our link to the second game (Cassandra less so since she was only there to demand answers. lol).
And there is the fact that he is listed in the comic series as well, which means that he may serve to link information from the comics into the game as well.
So you cannot say that it's fanservice as though it is fact. While I'm sure it didn't hurt that he was a fan favorite, I believe Varric will be playing a pretty important role in being a companion.

Jmk, Sebastian didn't *really* count as a love interest, it was a very short romance. Also, you have had plenty of bioware games where there are more female interests than male (ME1, ME2, ME3) so I think it's fair enough that the ladies got more for a change.

he was certainly more of a LI than aveline though. lol... and the weird thing about DA2's LIs is that none of them seemed all that sane. let's see... crazy mage abomination, ****ty pirate, cutesy bloodmage, broody elf, chaste choir boy? yeah... they all sounded like winners. :/ actually, i usually picked isabela simply because her character seemed pretty genuine when you actually got to talking to her about love... she was also the only one who didn't seem partial to either side of the mage conflict. she was easy-going and would probably stick by you regardless.

Mages:
Vivienne
Bald elf guy (Dorian? I didn't get the survey): Romanceable.
Scholar Lady: because mages don't need staves (and because I couldn't think of a third mage possibility).
Rogues:
Varric
Mohawk elf chick (Sera?): I think this one will be romanceable and will be the "Veronica" like Isabella. Also, BioWare, please give her the hair from the latest picture. A mohawk with a braided ponytail? That's bad*** and awesome.
Iron Bull (the Kossith)
Warriors:
Cassandra: I think she'll be the second romanceable female adn in a twist will be the "Betty" like Lelianna.
Cullen: He started out as a nobody slightly related to a minor quest, then bumped up to nobody slightly related to the main quest, so it seems natural that he would be bumped up to minor nobody related to the whole story (yes, I don't really like him. Has to do with the retcon he got in my saves from raving lunatic to sane person of some importance). Oh, and he'll be romanceable.
The Grey Warden Guy
I doubt we'll get Cole. A possessed body (hey, haven't we seen this before? or like 3 times already?) who is forgotten about a few minutes after he leaves? That will be a weird companion to have, just imagine the conversations: "Inquisitor, I cooked us some dinner while you were out hunting demons." "Who are you and how do you know me?" "I'm Cole. I joined you a few weeks back in Orlais." repeat ad naseum.
Oh, I almost forgot, DLC character. No real idea, but my guess is a female dwarf warrior since BioWare loves to give us warrios and we haven't had that race/gender combo for a companion before. And I don't mean one turned into a golem, I mean a genuine, honest-to-Maker dwarf with the fear of the sky, ancestor worship, everything.

Cass
Cullen
Ox
Grey Warden guy
Rogue:
Varric
The female elf
Unknown female
A DLC companion which is either someone completely new or is Cole.
Mage:
Vivienne
Dorian or whatever his name is now as an elf
Theres no way in hell they will be allowing a full party of mages, they just wont.

I said companions...not companionship - have very little interest in the "romances" Bioware offers up.
