I don't recall ever once using TV Tropes as evidence.

I've used it plenty of times as in invitation for people to argue their accusations somewhere they'll actually face scrutiny. That's not evidence.

Do you have any examples of me using TV tropes as evidence?

We really don't need another thread about Liara's plot armor, do we?

Maybe I should repeat myself more slowly.

I. am. not. a. mod. Do you grasp that? If you bring up an issue on TV Tropes, it gets looked at by lots of people who are not me. Not me. The only power I have in that situation is speaking. The exact same power anyone else here has.

I having a lot of troubling understanding why the BSN has such a difficult time with this childishly simple and factually true premise. I have the same amount of power on TV tropes and other forums as anyone else does.

Which you can't do because you edit it yourself

And why not? I don't control TV Tropes. I'm not a mod. It's not up to me which posts stay and which go.

So you changing something to suit and defend your claims makes it all better

That's very sad David

There is a wide range of scifi and near scifi flavors. Many stories will lean toward one of the big three categories with a little dabbling of the other two. The basics of scifi is a Socratic exercise with a scientific idea as the center of the story. What if x.

Hard scifi is limited to accepted contemporary science and technology. What if technology x had been used a different way earlier on, had been invented earlier, or how might society change in the future because of the technology that is just coming out now.

Soft scifi is much more lenient. It accepts possible but not confirmed scientific principles to be used. A rough explanation for how it might work can be made based on modern science. It does not require imaginary materials or bending the laws of physics to work. It might contain small doses of science fantasy but they are in the background.

Science fantasy can just make stuff up. There are only the thinnest of connection between modern proven science and what is presented in the story. It allows for FTL, biotics/Force/psionics, extraterrestrials that look, act, and talk like humans in some way, and what Asimov referred to as "eye scifi". It looks cool and futuristic but does not have any meaningful focus on exploring scientific concepts or how society would react to a technology.

How Bioware uses science outside of the codex in the first Mass Effect

What's typically the reaction time on fixing and challenging edits at TVTropes?

Oh god Liara hatred. Does make me laugh.

Plot armor? Lets assume it to be true. Plot armor for Liara doesn't even RATE on this scale from top to bottom of plot armor:

1. Glowjob/Starbrat (his plot armor effing kills you thanks to BioWare giant trolling)
2. Kai Leng's Gunship
3. Kai Leng himself.
4. Commander Shepard (though sometimes has plot armor failure...you know, depending...)

So Liara plot armor, plz...

The only thing Science Fantasy about biotics is eezo. Electricity does exist in the nervous system.

Depends on the day and what time it is. For midday or evening in North America on a weekday, generally within 15 minutes.

Kai Leng had plot armor, but he lost it after Miranda scared him off. *cough*

Plot Armor is not a negative term, it's stating a point like you just did with those 4 listed

It is a negative term. And it doesn't apply to any of those characters.

Because like we said early

The fact you are trying to use something that YOU edited yourself and tries to use it to defend YOUR claims makes it weak

Plot armor is not always negative. If Shepard did not have plot armor in ME 1, I would hate it.

Shepard's morality making his face turn into a horribly scarred monster with glowing eyes, and no one noticing.

You only find it a negative term because you make it out to be one, just like Cliche

Only paragons apply makeup and use colored contacts.

Not in the text? Pfft. It's a logical deduction.

Thinner atmosphere and also lower gravity. Probably a terminal atmosphere of about the same.

Plenty of skydivers have hit the ground at terminal velocity. They don't get turned into paste. Some have even survived by hitting trees and stuff like that.

If you hit a tree you are not traveling at terminal velocity, you've already deployed a parachute or wing suit to reduce speed and change tragectory. You hit the ground at terminal velocity you're impacting at about 120mph.

This is what happens to a car when it hits a wall at 120mph, the same speed a sky diver is traveling at in free fall at terminal velocity. You going to walk away from that one?

Image IPB

Could you get a video of a human catapulted into a wall at 120 mph? Humans, unlike many cars today, lack crumple zones, which means that humans are sturdier than a car and can survive an extremely high plunge from the upper atomoshpere.

I have a crumple zone.

Had to pay extra for that option, though.

I have no idea where the figure of 120mph for Shepard falling from orbit comes from.

It seems nothing like the real velocity that falling from high atmosphere without a retardation device. Felix Baumgartner jumped from an altitude of slightly less than 39000mtrs, but achieved a supersonic velocity of Mach 1.25 (843.6mph) during his jump.
