Eh? The basis of OPs (and mine) disappointment isn't hurt feelings, it's the fact that female player characters are underrepresentet in video games and as of right now, the marketing for DA:I is very centered on a male protagonist.
Yes, but carry that thought to its logical conclusion. Why does the underrepresentation of female player characters in general, and in DAI marketing in particular, upset you?
I'd like to see great female protagonists designed and not tacked on as an afterthought - oh yeah, people will want to play as females too, better make this in a women's model too. Yeah, I really am that shallow.
I liked my female Hawkes and Wardens better than my male ones and expect Bioware will continue in the excellence they have shown.

I can tell you exactly, but it will only be little ol' me and I don't represent all women.
I have played DAO and DA2 many times, but only once in each game rolled a female. I always play as a bro because I like to be the hero I have seen in MARKETING. In my personal case I buy that hero and then play HIM. I am sure that if I saw a female I would rather roll her and I actually like the idea that I am part of the audience that BioWare is marketing for. Not so sure now...

And Inquisitor, I am fairly certain that the title is gender neutral.

No, I certainly am as capable of being unreasonable as everyone else.
I get that many female gamers feel that their lack of representation in game marketing is an open wound. But that is a feeling, and letting that be the basis of your disappointment is, by definition, unreasonable.

I just can't take this complaint even moderately seriously. Saying 'as of right now, the marketing for DA:I is very centered on a male protagonist' is like being greeted at the front door by a man while a woman walks into another room and assuming that you are only ever going to see the man and glimpses of the woman.
And what would make us think otherwise?
DA:O, DA2, ME1, ME2. All save ME3 were marketed with only brief glimpses of the female PC, if that. Other game companies have certainly not given me any reason to think, "Oh. If I just sit back nicely and wait eventually they'll get around to me. Maybe."

Personally I think it is fine to ask for anything of a developer. But a creator of the content should always without fail as far as I am concerned make what they want to make in the end and allow us us to judge it based on our own beliefs. I will ask for things for future content and I will say what I did not like about past content but the right of the creator to create what they want should remain intact. Also don't judge a book by it's cover, same applies to marketing for games.

But that is exactly what happens in 80 percent of games, so that is a fairly reasonable assumption.

It wouldn't surprise me if their were complaints about it.
Real life people are like Mages. They have specialization skill to choose from. Far many of them pick the art of complaining as their first skill, and as they complain they get better at it. Their XP goes up each time they complain.
