Once again, what promotional material is the OP talking about? I don't know which video, article or ad you're talking about, so I can't comment on it. (This is becoming a really bad habit in the DAI forum and it's driving me crazy.)
I will say though that I've seen videos and interviews on the return of race options, and each time they showcased concept art of female elves and dwarves, so I think people can assume that female player characters are part of the deal. From what I understand, just because they haven't cast a glaring spotlight on female human inquisitors specifically doesn't mean they aren't important.

@Freshistay, because in this case, a great deal of presence of one gender has revealed the lack of the other.
So ask to see what's lacking! dont complain about the other gender. It's almost like being upset at the Power Puff Girls, because there Isnt a Power Puff Boy. I wouldn't complain about the Girls, I'd ask to see the boy.

I doubt you'd want to ask to see that.
Anyway, just because a woman isn't getting shown too much doesn't mean they're not there, or there's some representation issue. If I recall, few if any trailers showed different races for the player in Origins other than Human, but that didn't mean the Dwarf and Elf origins weren't fun.

And comparing dragon age, a game where gender is a choice, to a tv show where you have no influence on the characters whatsoever is pointless.

You say their in english. Or the could just use the Inqusitior, but the trouble is that did not even mention you could play as female.
It's becoming more and more common now, but I was actually taught (by my not at all old, female University Professor) to use "he" in gender neutral context because she was of the mind that you do not match the plural "they" (or it's equivalents) with a singular noun, and constant use of "he or she" everywhere ends up becoming distracting and wordy.
For better or worse. From then I saw usage in that context to be similar to referring to "man" or "mankind" when referring to "****** sapiens." Although I have started to revert back to using "they" since people would read too much into my usage of the word "he" (whether on BSN or otherwise)
A quick reference.

EDIT: As for the concept art, I can't really answer why it was drawn more with male characters instead of female ones.

Feel free to show me that there are roughly even numbers of male and female PCs in the concept art so far though. I like being proved wrong, because it makes me more right
I am convinced you're being obtuse on purpose. The truth is that I don't care enough about this subject to continue arguing further, so I will leave this thread with this final thought.
The fact that BioWare gives you the option to play as a female and does not preach it from the mountain tops is far more progressive than the bull**** marketing you see for a game like Tomb Raider, or Remember Me, or any other game that feature a female protagonist prominently. Those tend to leer at their heroine or dress them rather provactively for the benefit of the male gaze. However, for BioWare, choosing your sex is just part of the experience. Male or female, it doesn't matter. The Inquisitor is referred to in gender neutral terms all out of respect for their audience because they know you exist and don't want to offend you. The idea that they're somehow causing great offense by one developer making one slip, and by choosing to show one gender and one race to show off a bunch of armour options should not invalidate any of what I've mentioned.
I suppose my biggest problem with this thread is that you're making a stink when nobody farted. At all. The hard truth is that the majority of BioWare's audience are male, and most likely for the foreseeable future, their marketing will always appeal first to their male players. Over the last several years however, they've become far more inclusionary than they ever needed to be in regards to promoting Female Shepard as well as the female options of their games all together. This idea that one single developer diary (a year and four months from release, even!) can somehow cheapen all of the good news to come out about this game is preposterous. That you choose to focus on one line by one developer is preposterous. The idea that race selection, the possibility of a playable Qunari protagonist, speculation about companions, the return of Tactical View (The BioWare term for Isometric), and all of the other great news is cheapened because one video failed to reiterate the same point for the millionth time (that, of course, as always, you can play as a female member of any playable race) is preposterous.

Can a dev give us a confirmation that, we can equip our Inquisitor with whatever we like, as shown in the concept art?
Or, in other words, is Mage Plate confirmed? We saw Mage inquisitors in armor this time around, what is happening around that subject, dear devs? :]

Oh, ok, if you find out by the way sometime, it would be awesome if you could share the info with us.
That is what i understood from what i saw and heard, however.
And yes, i do hope for the same thing, ho :pp

I'd really like the cover of the game to be either a female or male inquisitor, it need not show the entire face. Mabye have a hood on then the different body just so you know that that's a man and that's a women. Idk. I also really liked the way The ME team did it.
Better not.. I'd end up buying a copy of both the femquisitor and the malequisitor version and my wallet would weep.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. From what I understood he or in this case himself can also be used as a gender neutral usage in case the gender from the person in question isn't clear/known.Allan Schumacher wrote...

Of course that's coming from a non native speaker so that could've changed or something.

Yes but not without issue. Complaining about Male representation isn't productive to achieving Female representation to the degree your hoping for. Ask yourself this, what person would feel sympathetic to the issue if you have a problem with concept art of people who look like them. Fair question, I think.

That's not to say that I could care less about the word they used. Obviously gender choice will be available, don't be dumb.

They could just make the cover art booklet double sided, like Skyrim did. Or something more similar to the N7 version of ME3 which had both versions of Shepard on the tin. Personally the reversable option is probably the better of the two.

Moreover, BioWare have been a huge part at pushing eqaulity forward. Man, the only other game that talks about their homosexual love life as openly as BioWare is The Longest Journey, and that's from the 90's. BioWare at least have the decency to make some great characters who are of every sex, gender and sexuality.
Their marketing has always been a bit messy, and not only in this but on other things as well. They lie to us, give us half-truths, blow things up and fail to deliver. Yet, they still make improvements. ME3's Female Shepard is a step in the right direction, and this is only the early stages of marketing. I expect a lot from the female Inquisitor once things start to pour out.

From what i've seen, it might be that and even more.
But, to be fair, it was easy to wear any armor you liked even in DA2, the stat reqs were low, and few armors were class restricted.
We saw a lot of Mage potential Inquisitors, even the first picture(one on the right), with armor, so i'm assuming they are giving a bit of freedom as they said, at least in armors.
Anyway, confirmation about whatever will come along the way at some point.
