Am I the only one who actually likes it when characters aren't "good"? When they could really be deemed very bad indeed?
I always liked the Lannisters best in ASOIAF - Jaime was my favourite character even BEFORE he turned into a nice guy in Storm of Swords. He was an unrelenting troll and a smooth talker. I liked that he wasn't afraid to trash talk the Starks.

I don't particularly care if what Cole did to the initiates was right or wrong. I understand why he did it and can accept that. He just seemed like an incredibly interesting character. Whenever I read his chapters I had a grin on my face and my mind blown by how incredibly awesome he was.

You can have a bold knight filled with valour and honour - sworn never to let any innocents be harmed. But we get paragons like that all the time in games and books. It's so relieving to me to get some grey morality.

Cole is about the greyest freaking thing in all dragon age - and that's what I like about him.

Jaime Lanistar is a great character.

Exactly. His a complex character and full of mystery. It would be a damn shame if he wasn't included in DAI.

True dat. One of my favourites. He sends his regards.

Cole is the rugged, mysterious, dangerous ghost agent. He's the hero the spire deserves but not the one it needs right now.

He was the only reason most of the mage supports got out alive.

Considering what Cole really is, I highly doubt it.
But we will probably encounter him during the game
as an NPC.

It depends on what type of character I am role playing in a game.  I often play my 1st run through as a goody two shoes and the next one of the more nasty variety.  Video games allow for this but novels not so much.  Since I've read the book already and know how my good guy player would react to him I will have a very tough time wiping away all that I know about him and starting as if I just met the guy.

Agein, He's not a murder. It not murder if you want someone to kill you.

I'm with whoever it was that said their Murder Knife would get a workout on all the Asunder characters. If they're in game, none of them will have a future in Thedas. I hold every single one of them responsible for the weakened, disorganized and vulnerable state the world finds itself in when the Veil tears, and they will have no mercy nor clemency from the Inquisition.

Of course, they're all just steps on the path to finishing what the Murder Knife started with Morrigan n Witch Hunt.

Yes it is.  Especially if you convince people that they want to die.  To this day there are no leagl assited sucide laws in Canada and if you were caught counselling one to let you kill them it would be murder.

I think Cole might have something to do with the Tranquil storyline that will most likely be addressed in-game, and directly follows Asunder's events. It was shown that a Tranquil can be "cured" if a demon or spirit of the Fade makes contact with their minds. Cole, being a spirit/demon/THING, seems like he could assist in curing either a party member or NPC during the course of the game.

I hope he's a companion, either way.

There was no convinceing. Those people guenienly wanted to die. The form tranquil mage confers it.

Every game needs an adorable little psychopath. I hope to see him in the game, if not companion, then as an NPC, maybe he could be an agent. I would fully support Anders and Cole's encounter as someone mentioned earlier (Provided that you saved Anders).

I believe there had been a thread discussing what sort of Spirit/Demon came to Cole when he was a young mage, I think the theory of a Spirit of Hope coming to him, and becoming one of Despair makes a lot of sense given how powerful Cole appears to be.

More likly a demon of dispire that became a spirt of compassion.

Debatable.

A Spirit of Hope might have come to ease Cole's fears and woes and may have been corrupted into a Despair Demon by the horrible things it saw while wandering through the White Spire.

And besides, I don't think despair would be the equivalent to compassion, though I can see why some might consider Cole's actions 'compassionate' I see them more having to do with hope and despair.

This guy knows what they're taking about! A tip of the hat to you, friend! Cole is certainly the most adorable of all psychopaths!

The game isn't coming out for another year and I'm already overly excited. If Cole and Cullen end up as the two romance interests I'm going to be very happy indeed. I didn't really like Anders, Sebastian or Fenris in the last game, so it would be a welcome change. I wish Bioware would hurry up and announce the party members. Perhaps gameinformer will feature one or two at the end of the month as a grand finale.

Am most certain that the Cole at the end of Asunder isn't the same Cole we've grown to know.

I would love a chance to have Cole as a companion. He's way too interesting to pass up.

Considering the amount of people who haven't read any metagame literature and the mixed reception of the book and other outside media, I hope Bioware doesn't give anything or anyone from them major game roles.

Wow, this would be a wonderful concept, use Cole to rescue a mage from tranqulity, gaining a rather mentally unstable mage as an addition to your party, or leave him tranquil and have him craft specialty runes for you or something. Oooh this would be such a fun companion quest.

Also, why'd this thread get pinned out of curiosity?

Blair clicked the wrong thing again? ;)

I definitely we hope we see more of Cole, as a character it's an interesting look at what it means to be (and act as) human, and from a story perspective I loved the ambiguous nature of what he actually is.

Well, if BioWare is able to establish and develop a character well enough without the need of the books, then with the outside media characters.  I didn't play Origins till like a year after it released but they were able to establish a good character like Loghain.  Then when I read the book, The Stolen Throne, it was just able to add more depth to the character.  So this could be the same case for Cole.
