Hey Bioware, You're Lookin' Good

First let me say, I'm quite excited and impressed by what's been previewed and talked about. And thankyou to the developers for letting us in at this still early stage to see how Inquisition is shaping up. It's very much looking and sounding like exactly what I'm hoping for from a Dragon Age game. I also really appreciate the developers talking about their thoughts and perspectives in how they're approaching the game and what they're trying to accomplish with it. I'd love more of this.
Highlights include:
- Story: The mage rebellion set up in DA2 was one of my favourite story-telling experiences in gaming, and I'm more than happy to get to play through what unfolds from that in Inquisition. Throw in the escalation through the tearing of the veil, the civil war in Orlais, the Chantry in chaos, Morrigan's scheming, and who-knows-what with the Qunari, and I'm utterly engrossed. Lots to sink my teeth into.
- Characters: I can't wait for some of the new characters to be revealed, but in the meantime I'm super psyched that Varric has returned, that Cassandra will be a companion character, and that Morrigan is featuring so heavily. I'm guessing Leliana will be around the corner in some capacity? Also hoping to at least have a Hawke cameo!
- Race Selection. It's very cool and appreciated that it has returned.
- Voiced Player Character. I know this was pretty much guaranteed, but I'm still happy to hear that the playable character will remain voiced. My biggest sticking point with Origins was the lack of it, so it's wonderful that Inquisition will be keeping it after its introduction in DA2.
- Expanded customisation. I looooove character customisation, especially anything and everything to do with appearance. Vain, I know, but I can't get enough of it. Dragon Age has been pretty good with that in terms of face and hair looks, but seeing those costume options in the videos, and hearing that you can customise colours and things like that makes me swoon.
- Broader World, but still Narrative Driven: From the sounds of it they're striking the right balance. The emphasis on a more open, explorable and reactive world is needed, but at the same time what has always been central to Dragon Age (and Bioware) games for me is the tight story-telling, characterisation and narrative choices, so I'm very glad that has not been dismissed.
- World & Exploration: This feels like next-gen Dragon Age. Large and interesting locales to explore. Vibrant new settings (the desert looks like it could be Nevarra?). The concept art alone has had me salivating. I like that Bioware has taken on our feedback and is implementing exploration as an important component to Inquisitions. Bye-bye repeating Kirkwall docks warehouse! (I enjoyed DA2, but even I got sick of the endlessly reused environments)
- Combat: again looking and sounding quite promising. Enjoying the fluidity in the video of the combat rolling and movement. Excited to see the tactical options as more is shown. The preview with the two-handed swordsman and the flanking and harpoon ability was very nice.
- Visuals. It's only pre-alpha and it already looks like it will be incredible when it's done. I think the new engine is offering a great deal in terms of the scope and awe of the world.
Keep up the updates and developer previews!

1)The return of playable races is a major boost.
2)The Fact that we Build the Inquisition the way we want it is amazing. I really like the idea that we mould the world the way we want.
3)Large open spaces to explore and spend large amounts of time in is a massive plus for me. I did find that the maps in DA2 lead you by the noise too much.
4) the scenes that have been shown of in-game footage are mind blowing, the dragon at the waterhole scene was immense.
The only downside I can see to this amazing game you are creating is that I have to wait another 12 months to get my hands on it. That being said I am glad that you took the time to make a game that is immense as this game is looking.

I have never posted before, I am pretty shy and can't handle those that tend to flame others they don't agree with or whatever, but this topic I can get behind.
I am a mother of two boys, 20 and 13. I started playing dragon age when my oldest told me that Kate Mulgrew, my favorite actress, was voicing one of the characters, so I watched him play for a bit and was hooked, I bought my own copy and never looked back.
I love the dragon age games and I even played the mass effect trilogy, not as great as dragon age, but still great games. I watch my great niece who is 16 months old and she loves to watch a video before nap time, so we watch dragon age game footage. She loves dragons now!
So keep up the great work Bioware, there is a whole new generation of fans out there.

Here's hoping that we'll get more info about companions, possible LI's and especially the female human, elven and dwarven Inquisitors soon!

My love affair with Bioware started with command and conquer, I actually started with DA2, and loved it. I couldn't believe all the bad reviews it got. I understand The re-used environments thing, but the story kept me from even really noticing it, and when I did, I didn't care that much anyway. I then researched more about the series, and found out about origins, I bought the ultimate edition, and devoured my way through it. I started to understand the let down a little bit, from the massive experience they gave you in the first story, and all of its expansion.
Either way, I still immediately beat everything I could in it, and loaded my save into DA2.. yeah. there was not much to the choices, but they through little things in here and there, that made it enjoyable for me. I then found the Mass Effect series, and went through those with a fine tooth comb...
All of that being said. DAi to me, looks like they are heading back into the direction of Origins. I think this game will be a staple in the franchise, and they are literally going above and beyond to make this game available for EVERYONE.. ps3,ps4,Pc,xbox360,xbox one (who cares about the wii). I cannot wait for this game, all of the specifics, and the more information that comes out, is only driving me crazy.. I keep the forum up all day at work f5ing it every 10 min or so, just to read more about it, and what people are saying.. I almost need to step away... this is going to be the longest year of my life. Also.. I saw someone mention a cancled expansion for DA2.... I would pay for that still.. no issues at all. even if they made it after DAi, I would buy it, play through the whole series again, and then be ready for more.

This is a really good point! It really is quite overwhelming that the creators of this game offer so much of their time and energy to sharing with us. Hearing little tidbits of the development process as it progresses is fascinating and makes me love the game all the more. <3Commander Kurt wrote...
Well, I mean, the game looks great. Awesome, even. I'm actually scared I won't be able to manage my expectations, that's how good it looks.
But, what I really wanted to say is how much I appreciate the Bioware people who are here, hanging out with us. Giving us insights into the developing process, teasing us, treating us like human beings rather than customers. You guys, all of you, are amazing, and it just makes being a bioware fan such a cool thing.
I've never bought a product before and had the opportunity to discuss it with the creators, forget joking around with them on a regular basis. I'm slightly star-struck to be honest, but it also makes me feel incredibly important and listened to.
Thank you.

Overall, it's nice to see Bioware spending the time with DA:I, that they didn't with DA2. I'm looking forward to the game, though the fall 2014 release will be quite the wait.

...and wondering: where has my sense of trepidation gone, which dominated my pre-release feelings about DA2 and ME3 and which proved to be so very correct? Not that they were exactly bad, but they - especially ME3 - hit a number of very painful spots for me personally.
Judging from the know information, DAI looks promising. Very promising. It's nice to feel this kind of untarnished anticipation for a Bioware game again!

"Within the Keep, you’ll be able to customize as much or as little about the world of Thedas as you wish. Then you’ll be able to import your saved world state into DAI at the start of a new game. Have you lost or corrupted your save files? No problem — remake your world state on the Keep, and preserve it for the future. For those folks new to the Dragon Age franchise, the Keep will serve as a great way to understand the people, places, and events that shaped the world leading up to DAI.
...
Very early in the planning of DAI, we began to think about how we were going to address the issue of importing save game files. We were dealing with a brand new game engine, plus the next generation of consoles. It was a priority that our fans be able to have their decisions carry forward, regardless of their past or future platform.
We realized that in order to make this work, we’d have to look into a cloud-based solution. Moving to the cloud allows players to take their unique world state into any platform (present or future) and even other media. For existing fans, an advantage of being in the cloud is that (if you are ok with spoilers) you can fully explore what-if scenarios, and become aware of events and consequences in our past games that you may not have known were possible. You can then fire up the previous games and go exploring for those moments.
Even if you don’t go back and re-play the previous games, you can still establish that scenario as part of your world state, and import it at the start of a new DAI game to see the consequences of your actions."
... I don't think I've ever sqeed over an import system before.

That as well as their recent site-makeover shows they are willing to take a step forward and try to improve as a company, and I can only admire that.
And I will also say, while I wasn't impressed with DA2 or liked ME3 for that matter, I can't argue they're bad games and looking at Bioware's track record they've just made some really memorable and incredible games. I only wish the best for Bioware's future as a company, and I can't wait to play DA:I because I know it's gonna be good even if it won't be as good as DA:O.

-race option in the CC
-big and varied world to explore
-Morrigan
-answers on stuff like red lyrium and Warden activities
-tactical combat (we haven't really seen any yet, but it's continuously refered to)
-Cassandra, Varric and Vivienne, they all seem like interesting companions
-your spec is recognised, even if only minutely
-the Keep
-the graphics
-being able to play a character with power and assets
-customisation of clothing/weapons for both protag and party (dat hat)
-improved dark skin tones
And probably other things I've forgotten. It's looking good, Bioware!

It seems that I'm the only one excited about being able to give orders to people. They said we'd have agents to work for us as the inquisitor. That would be so fun! My warden was evil so I'll try to be a little less evil in DAI. But I love the whole leader of your own organization idea
yeah das seem that not a lot of people are interested in having power !!! which is odd as everyone i know want to be a boss of some place or thing .i think being in charge of an organization sound like the key selling point of the game as theres no other game that das something like this

I will also say I think latest signs from Bioware are showing that they're in a state of transition and evolvement which really pleases me to know, considering how many other companies just start declining at certian points in their run. I'll admit I was still butthurt and skeptical when I saw that initial DA:I trailer from Gameinformer's coverage, as well as the combat vid, but when you hear a guy like Mike Laidlaw talk about the overall state and direction of DA:I in that interview which was posted recently I felt like it was really reassuring. He seemed much more honest and self-aknowledging than Bioware used to.

So many good points here. I feel like the team hasn't only made an effort to win back their fans with slick marketing or even just "listening" to their fans' feedback, but they're actually genuinely moving in an amazing direction with this thing. It sounds like it's going to make DAII look like it was just a tasty DLC to tide us over between games. Which I love.
