But...I thought it looked cool....
Biower thought that too apparently, as with DA2 opening "cutscenes", where they violate one of the most important rules - "show, don't tell".

I'd consider Orsino turning to blood magic just really bad writing
I thought that this scene did pretty well. This scene and the scene of Meredith being petrified were pretty cool.Star fury wrote...

Agreed. But what's done is done unfortunately, my friend.Morocco Mole wrote...

It's the most powerful scene in the game. What's so bad about it?

Actually, she didn't excute him if you brought him back to the Templars...

You, I like. We can at least pretend to be level headed and see thing for what they are.SirGladiator wrote...
Anders was simply an evil terrorist, there's nothing complicated about it. He murdered a bunch of innocent people in order to start a war in which he knew that untold thousands or millions would die (starting with the mages of Kirkwall), because he was an evil terrorist who wanted a war, and didn't care about the lives of innocent people. I always executed him in all my playthroughs, regardless of how pro-mage my Hawke was at the time. There's no excuse for, or defending, that sort of monstrous evil. It would've been easy enough to remove Meredith from power, it was about to happen at the time, as Templars and Mages were joining forces in secret meetings plotting her removal. The problem was about to be taken care of, when Anders did what he did. It doesn't matter which 'side' you're on, Anders was a murderer, and an evil terrorist, the only question is exactly how many lives will his actions ultimately cost by the time peace is finally returned. We may or may not know by the end of DAI, but we do know the number will be staggering.

She said that she would've had him executed had his family not intervend with the decision. I'm sure his family (A wealthy noble) offered a lot od gold to spare his life.

Cut scene's visual quality is awful, it looks cheap.

I think Anders can tell you about it before it happens and Hawke does nothing
At the risk of me sounding like a noob, dare I ask what the Evil Writer Redux means?Silfren wrote...

I thought the scene of Meredith's petrification was pretty neat myself, until The Evil Writer Redux ruined it for me.<_<
I would pay to see a scene of her denying the Launcets.Morocco Mole wrote...

You really think Meredith of all people would accepts bribes?

I'm at a complete loss as to how that means the cutscene was pathetically bad, sorry. Granted that Bioware was a little heavy-handed with their foreshadowing, but I took the comment to mean that there was something fatally flawed about the cutscene itself, which is independent of the storytelling.

And that Justifies killing the Grand Cleric and everyone else in the Chantry at the time how? If he'd put a Knife in Meredith I honestly wouldn't care...but no he used a bomb, on everyone in a large complex to start a war. If Anders wanted Meredith dead then he should've gone after her and not the grand Cleric who has already blocked the Commander from enacting the ROA.
His actions don't even make sense. He kills a beloved city leader, that is trying to prevent the Divine from calling for an Exalted March against Kirkwall, while keeping the peace long enough for Meredith and Orisino to work out their differences. I mean if the goal was to throw all mages in Kirkwall under the bus by thunder it worked.

She is Meredith boss.. And had the authority to stop Meredith from engaging total war against the mages, but did she do that? No. Shes not a "beloved city leader" not after what she has done to Kirkwall.
