This is why I don't take Pro-Mages (or Pro-Templars) serious at all

Truth be told, I don't really care either way myself. I just enjoy playing devil's advocate.

edit: Though I guess by this logic I am pro-templar anyway

I only said Pro-Templar because of the high chance of a pro-mage calling me Pro-Templar for my post

or saying "What about the Pro-Templar people doing the same"

I see the discussion has veered way off topic-- and into events that should properly be discussed in the DA2 forum. Off you go.

As for taking sides, by not taking a side, Elthina is effectively siding with Meredith and the templars.

It's not hard to see Silfren's point. Elthina's refusal to keep her subordinate in check did allow Meredith to seize political power as the de facto Viscount and prevent the election of an actual Viscount, to the point of installing her templars in the Viscount's Keep, where she attempted to usurp control over the City Guard, and this allowed her to have a death squad who were willing to kill civilians in broad daylight. You might disagree with her point, but I don't see why you wouldn't take her seriously because of it.
