So he makes the first move by blowing up a building full of innocent people.

Excellent.

Country X was always going to go to war with Country Y; everyone could see that. So I, Z, decided to make the first move. Would I undermine Country Y politically? No, that would be too obvious. Would I even try to get support to attack Country Y directly? No, that leaves a chance for compromise. Compromise is wrong. Now I, Z in the name of Country X, blow up the church of Country Y; won't blow up the government of Country Y. Nope. Never. That doesn't send a big enough message. Go straight for the churches.

This makes perfect sense except for the fact that the church is the government.

Those priest and templars that died there are anything but innocent considering what the Chantry does to people on a daily basis. And just how many civilians are there anyway? I remember the Chantry aways being closed once it reaches night time.

Except in this situation, Anders doesn't hate the Chantry. And the Knight Commander holds all of the power, not the Chantry. Try again.

Ridiculous. Elthina is Meredith's superior and could have called her off. And if that was somehow impossible, she could have alerted the Chantry superiors, especially Leliana, that Meredith had effectively launched a coup against the Chantry. She deliberately tried to make the Chantry less interested in affairs in Kirkwall, making it seem as though everything was under control.

Elthina herself seems to disagree with you on a lot of things. The Templars control Kirkwall. They have since the last viscount, before Dumar, thought to be an upstart.

I frankly don't trust Elthina. I think she approves of Meredith's actions.

The templars you could make an argument for, I guess if you want to go the "enemy combatant" route. But the priests and priestesses fall squarely under innocent civillians.

If the Templars control Kirkwall, it's because Elthina let them; either deliberately or through her blindingly obvious incompetence.

As far as I'm concerned, death was getting off lightly. Elthina should've been made to answer for the atrocities perpetrated under her command that she ignored.

Personally, I think that Elthina's incompetence is a little bit too blindingly obvious to be plausible.
For certain thoughts.

Elthina does disapprove of Meredith, but it's only a matter of degree. She wouldn't abolish the circle system or Templar oversight or anything resembling something Anders would find acceptable.

Elthina could've requested seekers assistance from the Divine to deal with Meredith, and her die-hard followers. The fact that this woman requested ROA twice is evidence enough that this woman was up to something. The templars are suppose to protect mages, and not just hunt them down like rapid animals. The fact that Meredith was leading to a difference direction was a red flag that should've been caught up.

Anders will be the "child" of Inquisition. Look forward to pretenious dream sequences of chasing Anders through the woods.

Remember that the Templars were quite willing to abandon the Chantry. We know this because it happened.

I don't blame the Templars one bit for leaving them. After all the Chantry purposely got them addicted on Lyrium for the sole purpose to control them.

Well, it's confirmed that they do need lyrium to use their abiltiies (not that that makes it any better), and that particular issue has nothing to do with why they defected. Now that they have left, they're still taking whatever lyrium they can find, they have no interest in quitting.

If you killed him then he won't return at all but there is a chance he will return if you decided to spare him especially when they said that there's going to be a lot of returning characters and that the exhaulted march expansion pack is apart of the game.

So if he was apart of that then he will return if he's alive and a few people said that the mage vs templar won't be a big part but they would be wrong since we have to stop the conflicts going around, find out what the grey wardens are up to, what's going on with the qunari, find the main antagonist seal the veil tears etc.
