Symphony of the Night mainly because the RPG side was done so right and you play as Alucard. Alucard is awesome.

Symphony of the Night.
Dawn of Sorrow and Lord of Shadows are strong contenders for the 'best' Castlevania game but to me Symphony of the Night has something all the other Castlevania games don't, it's the only one that keeps my coming back for more which says a lot since it's 16 years old.

Symphony of the Night myself as well, though I also loved Dawn of Sorrow & Order of Ecclessia on the DS. Out of the "Classicvania's" it's got be Super Castlevania IV.

Dawn of sorrow. But they're all godly compared to that PSP one, lord of shadows or something. I threw my PSP out of a hotel room window because of that bloody game.

Uh, the only CV on PSP was Dracula X Chronicles, and that was a pseudo remake/port of one of the classic SNES side scroller games, I think.

Yup, that's the one. You had to fight the grim reaper on a pirate ship or something on the second level.

The PSP one? Was that the remake of Dracula X with polygons instead of 2D sprites? It's the only PSP Castlevania that I remember, I also hated it, it was frustrating hard.
I also did not care for the most recent Castlevania game on the 3DS ( Mirror of Fate ). These games showed how poorly the tradiational Castlevania gameplay had aged

Aria of Sorrow
2nd place would go to either the remake part of Dracula X Chronicles or the original version of Rondo of Blood. Some of the enemies who float *right* above/below your whip without getting hit are annoying, but beating a level feels so god damn good
What, Symphony of the Night? I was oddly a little bit unimpressed for some reason. Good game, don't get me wrong, but I just liked Aria of Sorrow so much more, having played it before
