Hi there.
I have NWN2 with three official extensions. I've never played this game before. From what I read, additional races available in the extensions were not previously part of the official campaign, but after installing these extensions, they have become available.
So my question is, if I choice - for example - the air genasi in official campaign, will it not result in some kind of "gaps" in dialogues, less dialogue options etc.?
I just want to make sure.

There won't be any genasi specific conversation options ( eg: "as a genasi, I know this secret!"), but the game tends to use a token system for references to the player, so people will refer to your race correctly: eg npc says "nice talking to you fire genasi".

Which leads to hilarity whenever you're the same race as the speaker, such as a human saying "Thank you for helping me, human!"

There are some great race-specific lines from children in Storm of Zehir (I think they might be the orphans you can choose to house at Crossroad Keep):

| PC is fire genasi |Why's your head on fire? Does it hurt?
| PC is earth genasi |Are you made out of mud?
| PC is water genasi |Eww... you're all shiny and drippy!
| PC is air genasi |Was your daddy a djinni? Can he grant me wishes?
|PC is tiefling|Wow - you have a tail! Are you a demon?
|PC is aasimar|Wow - are you an angel? Do you got wings? Where ya hidin' em?

Some of their other lines:

When I grow up, I'm gonna be a dwarf like Khelgar!
This place is no fun. They won't let me fire the catapult.
Do you think a dragon will ever come here? I hope so.
I want a pet bear. He'd be big, furry, smelly, and I'd name him Levi!

Race aside, I find it kinda funny when, for no apparent reason, everyone knows what class you are.

There are certain clues you can follow. If someone looks angry and smells bad, they're probably a barbarian. If they look calm and smell bad, they're probably a druid.

Having the Cold Reading feat also helps.

It could be insignificant details, but I just wonder... how many those "flavors" are going to pass me by in official campaign if I choose e.g. genasi race?

You're not going to see any race specific dialog in any campaign made before the race was added. There aren't many of them and they are all very inconsequential.  Don't worry about it, just play whatever race you want.
