I have a query about modding the coalesced.ini file.
I frequently run close to using all 1000 units of my fuel, so was wondering about editing the file to restore it to 1500 (like it was in mass effect 2).
According to what I read, modding that file can get your account banned, since it can be used to provide an unfair advantage in multiplayer.
But I assume the fuel amount wouldn't matter, since you're not flying the Normandy around in multiplayer.
It's strictly a soloplayer benefit.
Or does the Terms of Service forbid editing the file at all?

You can mod anything specific to SP as much as you want.
For your specific edit, it wouldn't affect MP anyway so you could run the same coalesced file.
*Note that they probably aren't banning anyone in MP anymore anyway so it might totally be moot. But even if they were that edit would be safe.

I would not worry too much about fuel.
When exploring a cluster, do not get the fuel in the system with the Mass Relay right away; save that for when you are finished exploring the rest of the cluster.
Basically, what I do, is: (1) enter a cluster (say, the Hades Gamma cluster), (2) scan the starting system for fuel and assets/credits, (3) collect all assets/credits but leave any fuel alone, (4) travel to each system in the cluster in a "circle" usually starting with the furthest system out, (5) for each system, scan and grab all assets, credits, and fuel, and then leave for the next system. (6) After scanning all systems, go back to the starting system, and if I need the fuel, I grab it; generally I don't grab if I have 500+ fuel already. 500+ fuel is usually enough to travel from one system to the farthest system in a cluster. If i have 500+ fuel, I ignore it as I can grab it later if I need to.
Docking and visiting the Citadel will also completely refill the Normandy's fuel, so if you do reach 0, you can visit the Citadel and then leave.

You get a free refill everytime you visit the Citadel, fuel isn't a real problem in ME3.

Mod the fuel so it simply drains about 1 per second. Also, it's the coalesced.bin, not .ini. Harder to mod, sadly.
