The only thing they mentionned that was that we'd get "bonus abilities" when re-importing our characters (aka New game +), see the oxmonline video for that. I'm pretty sure Priestly (or another bioware employee) also mentionned something about "advanced weapon training", whatever that is.

Not entirely correct. Soldiers are the only class who start with Assault Rifle training. Christina did clarify however, that this does not mean other classes cannot receive that training later in the game.

At start, yes. However,  other classes can learn assault rifle training during the game. The revenant machine gun is the only known soldier exclusive gun.

Christina's quote in the old forums

The soldier is the only class that starts with assault rifle training.
It's possible for other classes to learn to use assault rifles, but
only soldiers can use the Revenant Machine Gun.

She also said a while back that not all classes can learn to use all weapons, and that the way you would learn to use them would be different from ME1.
