I never get tired of this. Before Origins was released, some of the writers said that the characters were different kinds of food.

Morrigan was, "the darkest of dark chocolates; bitter but rich" according to Cori May.

Alistair was, "strawberries and cream, sweet and wholesom adn delicious, and a little goofy." Sheryl Chee said he was, "an apricot. Cute, sweet, and just a little fuzzy." (I love that one).

Mary Kirby said Leliana was, "A sticky cinammon bun" and Sheryl Chee said she was "A macaroon; very French and very girly."

Sheryl Chee said Wynne was like, "Oatmeal with raisings and honey--lots of them".

So I find this delightful, and just fun. And even though we don't know much about companions so far, I thought it would be fun to say what we thought the companions or possible companions (Speculation ahoy!) would be as food.

So...

Cassandra, in my view, could be very crunchy peanut brittle. She's a little salty and sharp on the tastebuds, but their is sweetness if you give it time.

Varric would probably be a martini. Dwarves are known for their love of alcohol, but I feel like Varric would appreciate something a little more fancy and classy or something like that.

Vivienne, I think, would be creme brulee--it's fancy and good, it's not too sweet but enjoyable, and I think Vivienne would demand something fancy and fitting her high station. So maybe caviar too lol.

Iron Bull (if that's what he calls and he's actually real) would be a big ol' turkey leg. It's meaty, filling, and something that you take a big bite out of (and he would take a big bite out of life).

Sera, in my estimation, would be pop rocks. Small, sharp, explosive, and energetic.

I didn't talk as much about Grey Warden guy or Dorian since we know next to nothing about them, or even if they're in the game.

Bear Grylls disagrees. Cassandra is a beetle. Cullen is a bowl of camel innards. Varric is a rattlesnake purified poison muscle. Vivienne is a palm weevil grub.

Everyone is the award winning 1973 Chateau Montelena chardonnay.

Seriously though let's wait till we actually know the characters before doing this... that said someone remember that this is a thing that's supposed to go down on these forums.

Also Vivienne is the Santana DVX. I don't know why I'm thinking about wine right now.

Believe you me, this shall not be a thing that I forget, I shall arrange for several of these wonderfully in depth character analyeses to go down after the game's release. Not much more than one year from now, on this very forum, we shall not only dicuss which food each companion is, but also which soft drink they are, what type of animal they are,  which car they'd drive, which historical figure best matches their personality, which alien race they'd be if they were from the Mass Effect universe, and what their team would be if they were gym master of a Pokemon gym.

All of the companions taste of chicken. Also, reaver specced Inquisitors can cannibalize their followers. Semi-confirmed rumor.

Wow, andar! You got some straight-up hate for trying to come up with a positive speculation thread!! Good grief.

If the food analogies are good enough for the writers, they're good enough for me. :) I agree with all of your predictions, actually, (though I'll have to think about Varric some more).

If you're correct, Sera will be my surprise favorite. Who doesn't love Pop Rocks?! :D

You know the writers also said what the characters would drink... off the top of my head I remember for Wynne it was microbrews.

Someone remember to make that speculation thread.

You know, now I'm sad I never got to just sit down with Wynne by the tables outside a tavern an Andoralis night, under the nightly skies and song of Val Royeaux. Slowly sipping on the local brewery's drinks, the conversation remaining serene in our familiarity and appreciation of the spirits. Cold breeze in the late hours passing toward the Waking Sea, caressing us with a touch not too frigid. The sweet fragrance like honey from the yeast of last year's Harvestmere joining with the silent bitterness of pale and our setting out the next day. But the night would be ours, for the company of fussy mages have always been my palate.

Or maybe that title is better suited for the coldest, ruthless, meanest Friendzoner (©) Bioware has ever dreamed up: Aveline! NiceHawkes everywhere cried in terror as she rejected them over and over again.

I suppose spaghetti could be analogous to severe PTSD, but I'd rather not go there. OhwaitIjustdid.

Seriously though, is there anything about him that doesn't scream PTSD?

Wouldn't the assumption of her rejecting Hawke require her to actually realizing that Hawke might be interested?

I really hate the term "friend zone". Yeah, it sucks when somebody you're into doesn't feel the same way, but that's just...the way it is. Sometimes, somebody is just not that into another person, and nobody owes anyone a realtionship, ever.

Fun idea andar91    =)

Remember reading those quotes a long long time ago on the DA:O forum. Hmm.... I'm not really sold on the creme brulee for Vivienne. It just sounds too sweet and mild for what I've read of her so far.

Or the following twitter-exchange between David Gaider and Mike Laidlaw just doesn't sound like creme brulee to me.

How about a fancy dessert that you put on fire before you server? That might work perhaps  ;)

It's also pretty insulting to refer to somebody's friendship as being something you're "stuck in," as if it's not wanted. Doesn't seem like those alleged feelings went much more than skin deep if you don't enjoy talking to and spending time with them.

I'm thinking about DA2.

Isabella is that very spicy gumbo. Hot but watch out or your taste buds will burn. Fenris would be something prickly - Alaskan Crab Legs ? Aveline is the wholesome meat and potato, irish food deceptively bland but keeps you strong. Sebastian could be a T-Bone steak, good and wholesome but watch out not to get the bony sharp hard edges. Anders would be sushi: Sharp fresh taste that can hide a strong wasabi spice and might make you sick if you aren't careful with it. Merril baffles me. She would be a sweet dessert but not a cinamon bun like Leliana. Perhaps a rum soaked cake. Sweet but might get you a bit drunk if you let he r have too much free reign.
