LOL. Love is good. I think a lot us are really tired of feeling all the hate in the threads lately. Especially the writers, I'm sure.

The writing (stories and characters) is what makes Bioware games stand head and shoulders above the rest. All the other elements that go into making a game good or great are done by Bioware - and by many other game producers and developers as well. It is the writing that really shines out, that lifts Bioware so far above the rest that there simply is no comparison.
And, somehow, they manage to keep raising the bar. Kudos.

I do love the writing. Several of the villains inspire almost instant hate. More to the point, there's a nice complexity to all of the companions. They all have their own agendas and all have their own distinct voices.

I got to agree the fact that some people hate some characters so much and love others so much is a testament to great writing. Just because someone doesn't like a character doesn't make it a bad thing, in fact it's quite the opposite. Anyone that can write up a "character" that makes people cringe has some serious talent.
P.S. I love Leliana, is that so wrong?

Nope, this is a DA writers appreciation thread, so the more love the better.
P.S. I like Leliana too. She was a very well written character. I just happen to like Alistair and Zev more.

Dragon Age is the only game I've ever played, beginning to end, more than once. I'm on games 7, 8, and 9 right now. It's shockingly good.

Yeah, me too. The only other game that I loved more was Baldur's Gate 2. Gawd, I loved that game!

Amazing writing in this game. Characters were well-fleshed out. I am a male and while I felt Allistair was a bit emotional, it absolutely worked within the world created. Let's face it, if he had more balls, he'd be leading, not your PC.
Zevran is hilarious. His dialogue with your companions is great. One might say he's based off of a European free-lover stereotype, but whatever.
Sten is cool, but usually contrary to my playstyle. I HAVE to help everyone I can.
Morrigan is a bad girl. All us nice guys love to chase the bad girl even knowing she'll hurt us in the end.
Lelianna is my sweetheart, like a damaged rose, but so full of hope and kindness despite her past.
Ogren is a lot of fun. Period. His creeping on Lelianna and Morrigan is priceless.
Shale has some of the best dialogue in the game, but is not all spite and contempt. See's right through the "Swamp Witch" right from the beginning and develops respect for Wynne and Lelianna.
Wynne is just what you'd expect, a wise, experienced woman. The mother figure.
Loghain is actually a bit sympathetic. It's like they say, the best bad guys usually think their choices are the correct ones. The BEST example of this is the Sam Jackson character in UNBREAKABLE. Period.
The vast amount of dialogue and story options are a testament to the writing team.
My hat is off to them.
PS- I REALLY wanted to be able to get a kiss from Anora. There is a dialogue option "Do you need anything " that seems like it might lead in that direction, but she keeps saying- after a pause- no,

Gemini, I agree. And I even liked Loghain as well. If you've read the books and know Loghain's background, it just shows how well-written his character is. Yes, later on he went a little crazy, but you still remember the man he once was - the hero who saved Maric many times over. I still end up killing him in my game, but I respect all that he once accomplished and probably could have really liked him had things been different.

How many books are there? I'll have to look into reading them...

Two that I know of: The Stolen Throne and The Calling.
They are very good and extremely heartwrenching, especially the second one. Buy lots of tissues.
P.S. Loghain is really awesome in both books, especially the first one.

There is an older thread on here, that is about 10 or 12 pages long, where we all told them how much we loved what they did.

Yes someone told me earlier. Okay. I just thought with all the hate threads popping up left and right, it wouldn't hurt for the writers to know that we actually appreciated the hard work they have done. I'll let the thread die then since it's apparantly already been done.

This thread is a great idea. The writers of DA are amazing and DA turned out to be such a great game because of them. Thanks for all your hard work and much love!
