In DA2, it was fun to stun or lock down the Arishok with Combustion Grenades or Tar bombs, and then go to town on him.
Did You Ever Use Poisons, Salves or Grenades?

Because I don't recall ever having to use them all that much. They were always kind of there, never used. Should they return in Inquisition? If so, should they be given a slightly stronger effect to make them more viable, or no?
I think I used them once the very first time I fought the ogre at the top of the tower at Ostagar because my archer was on the ropes and I was scrabbling through my inventory for anything that would help. Other than that, I never used them. I even started losing those quests in Lothering that require them because I didn't want to waste points on them.

The only salve I typically bother with is Spirit salve for the Archdemon battle, Plus Fire protection for the High Dragons if I've found some. I certainly wouldn't make any.

Crafting so far has been entirely useless to me, both in Origins and DA2 (still have to get every recipe, though).
I typically get in the habit of wanting to save any special items (like salves or grenades) for particularly challenging encounters—and then I beat the game without ever having used them at all.

Ya have to agree the crafting in these games has been rather well basically non existent, hopefully we get told abit more about it in these up coming previews from GI or if not they've atleast looked at it an gave it a good overhaul

Short answer to the main idea of this thread: Yes. They were entirely superfluous.
