In DA:O, I used grenades and sold the rest. In DA2, I sold them all b/c I forgot about them.

Did I use poisons and salves? No.
Was I lobbing acid bombs like Cave Johnson with a sack of lemons? Hell yes.

Who do you think was carrying around all those potions, poisons, poultices, salves, grenades, and traps? Surely not Wynne...
I suspect Shale was, since she complains about it.
I used poisons often since my usual PC is a rogue, but in DAO, I only used grenades and traps once in a while. In DA2, I used the revive grenades if necessary. I usually sold salves, or used them in order to free up space in my inventory for other stuff.
I'm kind of hoping that salves will have a greater purpose in DAI, since there are going to be weather effects. Maybe a rock salve could help reduce damage from the sandstorms, for example. If I have to run around to find a rock overhang oriented in the right direction so that I can take shelter in its lee, then I think it would be great to have salves that can minimize the damage, long enough to find shelter, at least. But if shelter is as easy as instantaneously going to camp then I expect I'll be selling the salves off again.

I built my entire character around poisons, grenades and traps! I hope they make a comeback in Inquistion, DA:II made them rather worthless. They have so potential for a wonderful playstyle, but I don't think they've quite been balanced right yet.

Both in Dragon Age & Elder Scrolls I've always hoarded poisons, traps, & salves. I probably must look like some nightmare in game, just strolling around completely burdened by a heap of poisons & metal. The only game I have ever really got any use out of traps was Bioshock 2 & strangely enough the newer Fallout games. I think that was just because its far easier to prep an area with all kinds of nasty surprises than in the two fantasy series. Maybe Inquisition I will use them more often, kindof sounds like we'll be defending places & with that traps will likely be spent. Although there were brief terrifying moments in Origins when I finally felt pushed into using every last poison I could use. And the Dragon Andraste area, always filled that up with traps becuase I knew where the fight would be.

Nope. Never. And I've played both on Nightmare... well tell a lie, I did on DA2, those bombs came in handy... but never in DA:O.

It'd be a shame if not many would get that reference

I only used grenades in DA2, and only for the solo Arishok battle. When I had a full party, I had no need of any of it.

I used poisons and salves in tough fights, especially the Archdemon. I always bring along grenades and bombs and forget I've got them until I'm cleaning out my inventory at the end of the fight. Then I smack my head. This being said, I am working from having played before and knowing what to bring. If I have to carry around umpteen varieties of whatever because I don't know what's coming I probably won't bother. They didn't give that big a boost.

Tar bombs in DA2 to pin the Arishok in place so that I could spam AOE spells.

In DA2, I found stun grenades to be a near necessity on nightmare. I also always use mighty potion on Varric and Isabela, or myself if I was doing a rogue playthrough.

Solders bane, Mage bane DEFINITELY! I alway play as a rogue and whenever I snuck behind a group of enemies in DA:O I rounded them up by using bombs so I can take em all out at once by bombarding them with the bombs and with a high sneak level I could do it without ever getting noticed.
they didn't play a big role in DA2 for me.. Except on the occasion the revival bomb.

No, never used them and don't really know what most of them do.

I have used them a lot in both games. Especially in DA2 during Arishok fight as warrior. 15 combustion nades is a must if you want to have an easy time in 1v1 fight on nightmare

Used them all, but once the elemental resistance was good; no need for salves. Lobbing 'n' trapping is fun.

I used Grenades a lot. Never used Salves or Poisons unless I went up against someone who I've repeatedly died going up against, i.e Hubris.

I sold them straight away. Never used them. I only played the Normal and sometimes even casual difficulties though, maybe there's more of a point to using them when you're on a higher difficulty setting.
