"What? Hell no, I'm retiring to Rannoch as soon as this stupid war is over!"
Yeah, Jacob is a terribly lame character. Even Vega is more interesting. Don't hate on Kaidan, I really like him actually.
Oh and: "Throoowwiinn maaah barrriieeerr!!"

The writers dropped the ball with this in general. They used the same kind of line with a Jack romance. She makes up for it though by saying "Too bad.. Because I'm a better lay" or something like that.
They're kind of clueless for thinking any of us care about the Reapers that much. It took them until the Citadel DLC to realize our true love is the characters. And as far as Shepard goes, it's the reason to fight. He/she doesn't fight the Reapers because they enjoy it.

I liked it much more in ME2. When Liara asks what Shep is fighting for, I always respond with give Tali a home/give Garrus peace etc.

Actually that is EXACTLY what Jack said word for word. But as you said we fight for the characters not because we like gathering EMS...
Luckily, you can still rekindle it and tell her she's wrong. It'd ****** me off if I got the Jacob treatment and she was hooked up with some lame NPC.

OTOH, I'm kind of curious what kind of NPC they'd create for her. It's hard to see her with anyone but Shepard (be it Paragon or Renegade). That's why she gets her pet Eezo if she's single.
We have Mirifans,Talifans,Kaidanfans, etc. I'm a Jackolyte she's usually my romance of choice unless i want to see the the other LI plots in the game but on my most recent playthrough i dumped ashley for her lol, she knows no other man than shepard but if she did cheat it would be with a james clone. I think......

I don't know. She burns James a little bit at the party. He can't handle Jack.

Things like, "I'm a teacher." or "I need to do this alone." or "I can help more else where." and my favorite, "I really want to protect these people" or for the Jacob-ans(not Jacobans) out there, "You didn't expect me to wait forever did you? I'm too smooth fo dat." Not that man Jacobmancers out there, so I don't think it effected that many people. You think with a fanbase so small, BioWare wouldn't troll them about how small it is. Oh well.
Food for thought:
Is anybody who is boring, useless, and would leave you for this

really worth it? Brynn did you Jacobmancers a favor.(yes I know the Jacobmancers are gone.)

There's a reason why Garrus is popular and Jacob isn't. And if Jacob had the traits Garrus had, he wouldn't be Jacob anymore.

Garrus isn't even that cool. Not sure why "we" would want to be like Garrus. He was alright when he was a lowkey, frustrated cop, but something about him rubs me the wrong way now. Maybe he's popular because a big part of the gaming demographic is 25 and under. I happen to be 36. Maybe I'm too much of an old fart. He has too many punchlines and talks too much. Some of the writing comes off almost like Saturday morning cartoons or maybe anime.

Is that nobody said Jacob should be like Garrus, hell I don't think anyone even mentioned him
Most of the posts here says that Jacob was wasted potential because Bioware didn't know to do for Jacob

It's been more of a Jacob / Kaidan conversation. Thane is obviously cooler than either.

Replaying ME3 with a Kaidan Survives import, and I'm really enjoying the way his character is implemented into the main game.
Unlike Ashley, where it just seems they spent all their time and resources redesigning her rather than giving her anything relevant to do during the game, it feels like the devs really put a lot of love into Kaidan's content. His conversations are fun, he's constantly socializing with the crew, and at times he offers interesting perspectives, all the while keeping him "normal and grounded".
ME3 Kaidan is the first time over the course of the entire trilogy BioWare's succeeded at making the "normal" guy an interesting character.

To be honest, I never stuck with an ME3 playthrough with Kaidan, except a quick run to unlock his skills. Now I'm playing a Vanguard with him as the survivor and decided to stick with it. I look forward to seeing how it pans out.
