even though i never play females in my rpgs when im presented with a choice,
I couldnt help but feel that women players were neglected on the romance department

You have nice and sweet but boring kaiden.
You have the goodhearted obedient bad boy Jacob.

A frog and a bird, while even though they had great personalities, they were still a frog and a bird.

Not a woman, but I only play FemShep, and so, I think that counts too. Never really preferred the Human characters as an option, but my ideal romance is with a Krogan! I want a Krogan that is as sweet and loving like Charr is to Eraba(Blue Rose of Illium), and a badass like Wrex with Wrex's voice. That voice is just as hot as any Krogan male's voice can get with Grunt's as second.

As for the question, if I have to choose, I pick Kaidan. He's down to earth, isn't scared to call Shep on his/her actions, successful at his job, strong but not some macho man, seems to come from a decent family, insightful, and is willing to cook dinner.

Most of the women i met on the xbox said they want Joker which i find very puzzling considering the fact he's kinda of the behind the scenes type of guy but he is awesome so i can somewhat see where they are coming from.

But the girls i've met on the PC version has the Kaidan fever which i find hilarious.....

P.S. i have no ill will towards him hes just the meg of mass effect IMO

We weren't neglected. We got Garrus, who is (imo) easily the best romance Bioware has given us in any game, human or not. So the human guys kinda don't matter

How sweet thanks for the thread! My post is long since you asked for feedback I'm giving you feedback.

I agree with you on the jipped in the romance department I was looking forward to what new romances I got and instead found out the hard way the only new options were women if I didn't import a with a LI.

When I told BW fshep could/should stay with the bi persona I didn't mean give me only lez options! Seriously it was so lame and maybe it was made more so due to the fact you could blatantly see where BW took out your male romance options, if you didn't romance Garrus or Kaiden from ME - ME2 you don't get them magically they no longer are intrested, Jacob cheats or has a LI, Thanes dying so don't bother, Vega was creepy and stalkerish but then even his romance arc was stopped! So maybe it would've balanced out if Fshep got Garrus, Jacob, Vega, and Kaiden for ME3 then you had the girl options but taking out all males makes it bad. In short balance is required.

But for my ideal human male? I don't know I like Garrus. He's got a great personality has humor that isn't too forced most of it is natural unless its suppose to sound forced like the whole you've got nice hair moment. He's loyal but not blindly during his LM he's combative so he isn't as yes ma'am as others on ship.

I suppose I'd like a male any male LI to be determined not just in loving the femlead but also in his job a characteristic I liked about young Garrus was his commitment in his path on his views he likes what he likes and does what he can to get it not in a jerk way but just a inspired way.

Strong enough to take care of himself but isn't going to feel horrid if he needs my help emotionally or in battle.

Isn't going to do stupid things for contrivance sake like no leaping infront of my femlead to take a bullet for her cuz the story says so I need more of reason then that. However if someone is insulting the femlead and he's already my LI and standing there say something or better yet do something! This is a huge thing I noticed when I played Mshep+LI Tali he got kissed by Parasini in ME2 with her RIGHT THERE and Tali doesn't do a thing? I was shocked by the kiss and confused by my girl friend's lack of concern.

I'd like him to have a personality I like the characters in the series most who show anger, happiness, have opinions that may differ from me, get upset. The upset part seems to be lacking in ME for instance I stopped Garrus from killing Sidonis I fully expected to die when he comes up to me then nothing ok...maybe my death was staved for our next talk....nope I'm all in one piece. Thought that was very bad writing same goes for Zaeed he should've tried to kill me too (figuratively for Garrus but Literally for Zaeed). The way these two people where banking on killing their frinemy targets means a big fight between me and them should've ensued at least once if not multiple times till we resolved the whole anger issues.

Stay as far away from my hero lead (M or F) auto hitting on the npcs in regular dialogue aka no Jacob + Femshep ME2 moments! If I'm not already in a romace with this character don't act like we are. Tali + Mshep flirting after romance confirmation is great. No Vega + Fshep moments were they flirt constantly with if you have a flirty npc give the option to say stop it or I air lock you and then have new lines for this npc that do interact with your lead but don't flirt or hit on them.

To shorten this all up the closer the male LI is to Garrus I think I'd like him more. I also like Kal I can't get enough of his accent and cute yes ma-ams though I don't know how well he'd translate into actual LI for femhero.

I also love their voices however that does not mean that my human male LIs all suddenly have to have special accents or come from noticeably accented places other wise it acts as a sign saying if they don't have an accent you can't romance them and that wouldn't be good.

The last examples I can give of male humans I like alot were Allistar this character was very very well written just for his general conversations he felt real the whole up and downs of his + femwarden's romance was highly unique even though I hated the fact there was zero way to have my elf be anything in his life. Since she couldn't be his wife, concubine , or advisor I decided to go kill my warden instead being written out of his life was too much. After that I was liking Bad Request from Remember me though he needed more depth and I think they wrote out most of his character.

Female gamer here... I've mostly played my custom maleShep. He's my eye candy and romanced Miranda Lawson.

I do have one femShep that I haven't finished in ME2... or brought into ME3. If I had to choose, I'd pick Thane. He seems like the quiet type, philosophical, religion, code etc, He's very intriquing for an alien. Garrus would be my second choice. FemShep's comments to Jacob are pretty creepy... like she's in heat. And after what happens in ME3 with Jacob. I'll avoid him. Good that FemShep got to punch Jacob's sorry ass. Woot!

As a guy, I couldn't say that I was "aroused" by Thane or Garrus, but when I was playing as FemShep, the Garrus romance did "melt my heart", and the Thane storyline was much better than either of the human males.

Bioware should have included more romance options for femshep. Kill off Kaiden? Too bad, one option gone with no one to replace him. Romanced Jacob or Thane? Lol, sorry! No fun for you in 3. Didn't romance garrus in 2? Better forget about him in 3.

I support more options for the next game no matter the orientation you want for your playable character.

Wow, could you possibly make a bigger strawman? Because the article you linked to is specifically about non-human animals (as in actual dogs and such).

Obviously terminology will have to be revised when me make first contact with an alien species with human-like intelligence.
